Recipes for Transition - Albert E Hauck

    Recipes for Transition

    Finding Sustenance to Move Forward

Albert E. and Kathryn C. Hauck

    Remembrance

In every transition there are people whom the Lord uses to refine and sharpen us, even as He says, "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend [to show rage or worthy purpose]. (Proverbs 27:17 AMP) Over the past four decades I (Al) was richly blessed to have four close friends help me through several difficult transitions. Randy Baker, Ron Fess, Don Lippens, and Ron Sova have stood with me to see the Kingdom of God advance everywhere we walked. All of these brothers have run their race and made the greatest transition from glory on Earth to Glory unspeakable in Father’s Presence. I am thankful having been able to walk with these friends of God!

It was the all-too-short life of our son Christopher which literally stopped me (Kacey) in my tracks and pointed Al and me back to God in one of the hardest transitions of our lives. Christopher means Christ-bearer and this is what his life accomplished as it connected with ours. His purpose and destiny have been fulfilled even in so short a time. Not only are his parents added to his account, so are his brother and sister, and all those who have been impacted by the faith shared and ministered by this family, here and around the world. I am so grateful for our son, who gave us the gift of a renewed relationship with Christ!

    Dedication

You can count time in many ways, but the passage of time is ultimately an expression of God’s grace. I (Al) am in my sixth decade of walking with a most wonderful daughter of God! She is truly a woman of excellence and grace, and everyone who knows her realizes how blessed I am. (see Ruth 3:11) This book is dedicated to Kacey, who has walked with me through some of life’s most difficult, stressful, and joyful transitions. She has seen transition bring me to the threshing floor of grace as the good, the bad, and the ugly were removed until only the best of Him remained—and He is not finished with me yet! Over the decades of our journeys together Kacey has experimented on this old chemist with some culinary creations of her own, and as you wade through our discussion of transition, Kacey will share some of the recipes which helped us push through.

Kacey, without your love I am a vessel without joy.

Thank you, Al, for encouraging me (Kacey) to step into the call of God, even to the place of being untraditional. Because of your deep love for God, you have blessed me, our family, and our church family with a leadership calling us to a higher place. You have encouraged us to step into the purpose and destiny of God and His Kingdom, using all the gifts Holy Spirit has given each of us. You have desired the best for each of us, and laid your life down for it. You are a husband of honor and great love. You are the love of my life.

    Foreword

    By Robyn F. Vincent

Throughout the Bible, we see time and time again the Lord would sovereignly transition the people from one nation to another nation, from one season to another season, or from one way of existence to a completely different way of existence. Why, you ask? I believe it is because these transitions tend to cause humanity to move beyond their boundaries of routinized living and false sense of normalcy. Believe it or not, we are exceedingly blessed when God allows interruptions and testing to come into our lives to reposition us for the purposes of change and growth. Even the most unexpected, drastic events will work for our good and God’s Glory, if we are willing to come into a fresh place of fellowship with God.

Recipes For Transition is such a creative and timely book written for anyone and everyone who is looking to be victorious in such uncertain times as these. The magnitude of wisdom and revelation Al and Kacey Hauck bring to the table is immensely captivating, thought-provoking, and completely necessary as we continue to press through some of the most challenging times of our day. From start to finish, you will see these longtime apostolic leaders are fervent in their commitment to equip others through their in-depth teachings and testimonies.

The combination of humor, authenticity, and revelatory Biblical truths makes each lesson more and more palatable. The mouth-watering recipes, along with the incredible stories of their personal journeys teach us the benefits for life experiences to become more enjoyable. No matter what stage of life you are in, this book will inspire and challenge you to live with daily purpose and focus as you taste and see how good God can be in the midst of transition.

You can walk in freedom from fear, anxiety, and worry, and feast at the same time! I have always looked to the Lord’s wisdom to lead and guide me to the greatest blessings during the rockiest times. God wants you to experience abundant living amid uncertainty, and this book will help you do just that. I genuinely believe it will initiate the breakthrough for blessings and overturning of curses.

May you be filled with prosperity, favor, and grace as you accept the invitation to come to the table of the Lord and dine with Him!

‘Listen! I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will eat together.’

    Revelation 3:20 (CEV)

    Introduction

Over the years we have received many prophetic words about writing. Writing books, articles, stories, recipes; you name it, we were going to write it! However, after writing multiple publications in the field of chemistry and on leadership, and literally hundreds of manufacturing formulae and technical reports, I (Al) had no desire or drive to sit and write one more thing … But God!

In February of 2020, just before the world shut down so God could reset His Bride for the next great move of Holy Spirit on Earth, Kacey and I were the last couple to sit under the ministry of prophets at Prophetic Presbytery hosted by our local fellowship. Boom! Out of the clear blue, at the end of a word about a transition, one of the prophets said: Alright, so I do see a book. It does not have to be a physical book. It can be a collection of videos, I do not know. It is the same thing. Whether it is a book or a collection of videos, it is a collection of publishing of God’s Word. I see in one hundred twenty days, the two of you are going to write a book. From the beginning to when you finish, in one hundred twenty days you will have it finished, says the Lord.

The timing was interesting, as it happened to be the number of days until we had planned to transition the day-to-day leadership of our local fellowship to the next generation of fivefold leaders. Holy Spirit had been speaking with me about transitions, and now He was confronting me in public with a timeline—from the time we began to write! So the work you are holding in your hands or viewing on a screen is the product of one hundred twenty days.

Of course with all of the other things on our schedule, we did not get right to the task of writing anything. Over the course of the next week Holy Spirit dropped a title in my mind, which I tried to get Kacey to own: Recipes for Transition. We liked the sound of the idea, but when I suggested Kacey select the recipes before we wrote, the thought fell to the floor faster than a hot black iron frying pan falling off the stove! So a several more days passed.

I am no stranger to the panic a transition can cause. It seems, God made me for such times. Being a Crisis Intercessor is part of my DNA. Even before I truly knew what an Intercessor was, let alone all of the categories of Intercession contained in the Bible, somehow Holy Spirit spurred me into action in times of crisis. It was part of the DNA of Grace Father placed within me. Ready! Shoot! Aim! This aspect of my being is diametrically opposed to my scientific chemical training; the analyze, strategize, investigate, write a plan, and move forward way of doing life! Some transitions can and must be planned for, while other transitions are thrust upon us in the raging river of life. Suddenly the governments of the world were in a panic—otherwise known as not knowing Who God is in the midst of a crisis—and they responded to a contrived situation without the seeking first the wisdom of God. Why should the twenty-first century be any different from the day after Adam fell? Apart from the Grace of God, the sudden changes of isolation leaders were imposing upon their citizens and the fear the media was propagating to control the masses could have crushed the hope of nations. But God had placed the Grace of Crisis Intercession within me. In all truth, I had been in crisis intercession for the United States of America and New York State for three- and one-half years; now Father was answering all those who were calling upon His Name to bring a great transition called Awakening which leads to Reformation!

Transition is not just a physical act. It is also a mental, emotional, and most importantly, spiritual act. Acts 1:8 is a model for transition in every area, aspect, and relation of life. Listen to Jesus’ words to His apostles: …but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the Earth. (NASB) Every transition we face must first be overcome in our own heart (Jerusalem) before we can help our family (Judea), our neighborhood or work place (Samaria), or the larger communities of the world in our spheres of influence. How we transition in our heart and soul determines how we will prosper in the transitions set before us (see III John 1:2).

So with this reflection and the prophetic word spoken over us, we were thrust in the middle of needing to provide stability, direction, and hope in the midst of another transition. This led to expanding the daily personal devotional writings I had been doing for over thirty-four years, and helping our Judea, our Samaria, and those who wanted to be involved from the remotest parts of the Earth. This brings us to the book you are reading.

Pastor Lisa J. Fess is an apostolic teacher and one of our close personal friends. I cannot remember when she has laid out a Biblical feast on the Word of God in which she has not set the banqueting table with definitions. So we will begin with a few definitions of transition, from which we will endeavor to pursue Recipes for Transition, and find sustenance to move forward. By choice, I prefer to use Noah Webster’s Dictionary 1828 as my primary source for defining words of American English.

TRANSI’TION, noun transizh’on. [Latin transitio.] Passage from one place or state to another; change; as the transition of the weather from hot to cold. Sudden transitions are sometimes attended with evil effects.

This will be the definition of transition underlying the discussions in this book. But this book is not about only transitions. It is about communing with the Lord through them, so our transitions are not like a rolling stone, but rather a walk with the Lord during the cool of the day. After each chapter Biblically reflecting on different aspects of transition, there will be two weeks of daily communion devotionals.

Please do not depart from here, until I come back to You, and bring out my offering and lay it before You. And He said, ‘I will remain until you return.’"

    Judges 6:18 (NASB)

Gideon built an altar unto the Lord, and he transitioned from a place of fear and doubt into becoming the bold deliverer of his nation. Our calling is to do the same. In our local fellowship we spent the month of March 2020 building personal, family, and corporate altars unto the Lord. When Covid19 landed in the United States of America, and the craziness of man tried to replace the strength of faith toward God, we had already a place of worship established in our hearts and homes which could not be shaken.

The daily communion messages contained in this book were originally written during the seventy days our congregation was in isolated quarantine during the Covid19 pandemic. While they contain reflections and events from this turbulent transition, each message speaks to any transition you might be experiencing. God’s truth is unchanging! They represent ten weeks of daily communion devotionals meant to help you transition from glory to glory to glory until the Lord returns. Transition is a journey to the next oasis of grace on Father’s path to your destiny. Enjoy each day in His Presence as you taste and see He is good!

    Bon appétit and shalom!

    A Storied Recipe

    Lamb Marinade

I (Kacey) grew up with roasted leg of lamb and never really tried this until our children were born. This is a family favorite, a celebration dish, especially at Passover or Resurrection Sunday. The bones of the marinade came from my stepmother, Enid Carruth. When our church congregation started celebrating the Passover Seder in our homes, Al and I made this barbequed lamb and another meat dish, usually roasted chicken. The first year, most people were not sure if they would like lamb; but, we have run out of it every year since!

    Lamb Marinade

For 1 boneless leg of lamb.

    Combine in a saucepan:

    1 Tb. olive oil

    1/2 c. soy sauce

    1/2 c. Worcestershire sauce

2 Tb. honey, preferably raw honey

    1 tsp. dark brown sugar

    1/2 tsp. ginger

    1 tsp. dry mustard

    1 tsp. Dijon mustard

    1/4 c. dry white wine

or 2 Tb. white wine vinegar

1 tsp. minced garlic (I use a garlic press)

Heat and simmer for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool.

While it is cooling, trim the leg of lamb of excess fat, and ‘butterfly,’ or open it out into one relatively even piece. Place lamb in a dish you can marinate it in for most of the day. A covered glass casserole dish is great for this. Pour marinade over the lamb, poking it with a large fork as you do. Turn the meat over and poke again. Cover and let marinate at room temperature for 6-10 hours, or longer if you have the time. (Al likes to marinate it for twenty-four hours if possible.) According to my step-mother, you turn it over and poke it every time you walk by it in the kitchen.

Remove the lamb from the marinade and grill on the barbeque on low temp until just slightly rarer than you like it. Al uses the indirect or raised rack on the grill. If you do not have one of those, cook it over indirect heat on the grill. You can use the marinade as a basting sauce if you like. It will continue to cook as it stands for a few minutes. Slice and enjoy!

This goes well with mint sauce or jelly.

    Reference and Focus

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

    Psalm 119:105 (NASB)

Transitions are like a journey—a pioneer trek or sea voyage. And two things every pioneer and every good sailor have is a point of reference for where they are and a compass to guide them from one point to another, focusing their path. Without reference and focus they would wander hopelessly; and, if you try to handle life’s transitions without reference and focus, you might wander hopelessly through time. Sailing the oceans, traversing uncharted territories, and transitioning into unknowns are all journeys which require reference and focus.

Sailors for thousands of years have had the North Star as a point of reference. Except for minor shifts in the angle of the Earth due to catastrophic events, the position of the North Star in the heavens relative to Earth has not changed. The angle of Planet Earth’s axis of rotation also creates our seasonal transitions, which, too, are governed by a point of reference—the equator. The further you are from the Earth’s equator, the greater the changes or transitions from one season to another.

Larger or more drastic transitions require more planning or Divine guidance. For example, driving from your city to the city next to you requires little planning and can even become routine. Has something ever become so routine in your life, you have said: I can do it in my sleep!? However, if there were an earthquake and the roads were destroyed, you would need a new plan for what was once routine.

When we drive across North America, I often wonder what it was like one hundred, two hundred, or one thousand years ago when there were no paved roadways, major bridges, and tunnels to make transitioning from one location to another easier. In those times there was perhaps as much joy in the journey as there was in arriving at the destination, but they had to maintain reference and focus in traversing the landscape.

What if we allow our imaginations to wander back to the Garden of Eden, of the place of God’s delight? We have no record of how many days, months, or years into the sixth day had passed before Adam was created.

And God made the [wild] beasts of the earth according to their kinds, and domestic animals according to their kinds, and everything that creeps upon the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good (fitting, pleasant) and He approved it.  God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.  And God said, See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the land and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.  And to all the animals on the earth and to every bird of the air and to everything that creeps on the ground—to everything in which there is the breath of life—I have given every green plant for food. And it was so.  And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it completely. And there was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.

    (Genesis 1:25-31 AMP)

This may have been the first major transition in eternity concerning the history of mankind. As we see in Genesis 2:7, God did something unique in the creation of all things when He decided to make or form man in Our image and likeness. The Hebrew word translated as formed is yâtsar, which is more literally translated as to press, to squeeze into shape, or mold into a form, especially like a potter. Up until the creation of man, Father, Holy Spirit, and Son had only spoken or called things into being out of a different realm of existence. Here He shaped mankind, taking time and forming him in His Own image. Can you begin to see the look on the angels faces as they watched the new thing their Creator was doing?

Man was in for another sudden transition. If we carefully read Genesis 2:7-8, we discover man was created in the wilderness: Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. The LORD God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed (NASB, emphasis added). We already read in Genesis 1:31, God saw the creation of man was very good; the Hebrew words for very good suggest creation of man was perhaps even better than any other thing in creation. So what did the Creator do? Genesis 2:8 tells us He planted a garden; more literally, He created a place where He could hedge about, protect, and defend His very good creation. We are told the garden was in Eden, or in Hebrew ‘êden; which literally means the delicate place of My delight where man can live voluptuously (full of pleasure).

In other words, when God created us in the world or wilderness, He immediately desired us to have intimate fellowship with Him as Father, Spirit, and
