About this ebook

I was born in 1933. At the age of seven, I had a vision of myself preaching in a grassy field to black faces. In 1972, my wife introduced me to the loving God she just met, and instantly I fell in love. However, accepting His love has taken me on a forty-year journey, aided greatly by learning His names. All of His names spell love, acceptance,

    Dedication

I have prayed for years for such a book as this, and here it is. His name (s) is wonderful, but what are His names?

Author Daniel Lindberg, this is such a treasure of gold. The gift He gave you is not just that He told you these, but that He has shown you His names!

A gracious thanks to Katie Martine

In desperation, I stopped at Office Depot on Mc Loughlin Boulevard, in Milwaukie, Oregon. Two years ago, I completed my first book and was abused by three self-publishers. Over two years, my two thousand dollars were finally swallowed up by a bankruptcy. I noticed a brochure that Office Depot prints books.

A few months later, a new lady was hired to run the print department. Katie assured me she would help. We worked together for a few weeks, and she did everything for me a self-publisher would have done, and the only charge was the printing. I completed my second book and discovered the Lord was leading me to a third book, which was becoming a series.

Katie and manager Mike Swalley worked with me for four years as I completed the four-book series, Six souls and a Barista.

Katie is an interesting study. She ran the print section with the precision of a watchmaker. Alone most of the time, she would wait on four or five customers at the same time. Sending a fax, printing business cards, finish putting together and printing my books, directing a party to the computers, helping a helpless would-be-bride with announcements, and laying out a restaurant menu. All during, what I would call chaos, each person who entered the store would get a Welcome to Office depot.

Katie, a lovely Christian lady, is married and recently bore her third child, a cute little creature, who looks like her mommy. A few months ago she was promoted to management but still helps me out. Mike, the store manager and a devoted Christian, is gracious to me. He brought my Windows Seven back from the grave twice.

With my deepest gratitude and God’s love,

    Foreword

    From the Author

It’s frustrating why so many Christians do not love God with their whole heart. Many seem bored with their experience. For others, the Christian life does not meet their deepest need, and others, the promise of sleeping on a bed of roses has become a bed of thorns.

The study of the Trinity is the safest way for Christians to guard against selfishness. God made us in His image and His likeness. Concentrate on this truth to discover the character and attributes of the One to whom we were fashioned.

The study of man: A nominal Christian concentrates on his own personal growth. In this way, they are able to pick and choose the selfishness that is most beneficial to them. By avoiding repentance, restitution, and a godly lifestyle that one can have their cake and, at the same time, attempt to feast on the delicacies of God’s goodness and never give an accounting to God or man but just move from one blessing to another.

    Introduction

    Before the Beginning

A Vision Given to the Author

While I was in the Spirit, I saw medium grey shadows forming to make a mass covering the cosmos. Then an Ebony black background filled the canvass. There seemed to be no beginning or end as it whirled around. I was looking at nothing; no form or beginning or end. There was neither light nor darkness but somewhere in between. For some reason, I was at peace with all this strangeness. It began to move not forward or back but gyrating like a woman in labor. With a mighty thrust, two other slightly smaller images came out, which made three distinct figures. Suddenly the images morphed back together, creating one enormous mass again. My eyes were fixed as I wanted to understand. There was neither light nor dark as I knew it. Maybe there was, but it was hard to tell and impossible to explain. I asked no one; How could anyone exist in a cosmos that was void of everything?

To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him? The workman molds an image, the goldsmith overspreads it with gold. And the silversmith cast silver chains (…) Has it not been told you from the beginning? (...) It is He who sits above the circle of the earth (…) and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He brings the princes to nothing and makes the judges of the earth useless. (…) To who then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal? says the Holy One.

    (Isaiah 40:18–25 NKJV)

    Chapter One

    El Ohim: Creator (El-Ol-Heem)

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

    (Genesis 1:1 NKJV)

God’s creation was in the beginning, indicating He existed before creation. He always was, is now, and always shall be. There is no way to measure always was because one would need a starting time.

The creation may have taken place in seven of man’s days or seven of God’s years. God’s Sovereignty consists of His realm, His reign, and regency.

His realm is the location of His rule and includes the entire physical universe and extends to all else before creation and forever after. He is Elohim; no one can hinder Him from continuing to create.

You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.

    (Revelation 4:11 NKJV)

His reign is the power by which He rules and is carried out by His own Will, His Word, and His works.

By His will, He creatively decides and designs what He wishes to accomplish. His plan was set in motion before the worlds were created.

By His Word, He spoke the world into existence. He declared everything. He created good or beneficial to mankind.

By His works, through His angels and the Holy Spirit, He has unlimited power to accomplish His design. The Red Sea crossing, Manna from above, and water from a rock were some of His works accomplished by His agents.

His regency is His right to rule and reign supreme. He has authority because of His preexistence and Holiness. God was present before creation and deserves to be its Supreme Ruler. His intent of all creation as being good reveals His Holy nature, which is perfect. Good means beneficial.

God said, It was very good (Genesis 1:31 NKJV). If any part of the world is no longer beneficial, it’s man’s misuse.

All Kingdom Power and Authority flows through Him. Someday we will know more fully what this means. Until then, we can:

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

    (2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV)

The El in Elohim is Strong and Mighty. The word Him means more than one. This was indicated in Genesis. More than one indicates the involvement of the Trinity. This word is not found in the Bible but is accepted by Biblical scholars.

…And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the water.

    (Genesis 1:2 NKJV)

For by Him all things were created in the Heaven and that are on the earth (...) All things were created through Him and for Him.

    (Colossians 1:16 NKJV)

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one Lord.

    (Deuteronomy 6:4 KJV)

The trinity was at work when God made man:

Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image according to our likeness...

    (Genesis 1:26 NKJV)

Genesis indicated Adam was formed not created.

Created: To make out of nothing! (Heaven and earth)

Formed: Using that which was already created. Man was formed out of the dust, and woman was made from Adam’s rib.

We were made in the image of God; however, we were begotten in the image of sinful Adam. Shocking!

And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image and named him Seth.

    (Genesis 5:3 NKJV)

Seth’s lineage continues throughout Jewish history until Jesus came. We are a unique and distinctive handiwork of El Ohim. He formed us specifically individually and carefully. God was in charge when one particular sperm cell was introduced to a special egg. He oversaw the complete birthing process and, in my opinion, was even involved in choosing our name.

    David wrote,

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought…

    (Psalms 139:13–15 NKJV)

    Moses Questions El Ohim:

Then Moses said to the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.

So the Lord said to him, Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing or the blind?...

    (Exodus 4:10–11 NKJV)

We can trust the way we were fashioned. Tall, short, plain, or beautiful, God was involved. We need to be good stewards by taking care of the body and mind.

    Isaiah adds:

But, now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine. Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, And I have loved you (…) Therefore I will give men for you…

    (Isaiah 43:1, 4 NKJV)

We were formed for God’s glory. The word glory means ‘an accurate opinion or estimate of.¹ We have the privilege of giving everyone we meet an accurate opinion of who our God is. We can accomplish this as we get to know His names and attributes. For example: This book, HIS and my latest book, The Love and Power of the Holy Spirit.

We may not understand how our situation could ever bring glory to God. He simply asks us to trust in Him, and as we speak His names, He supplies the saving power to change lives.

    A lukewarm, Selfish Church

Elohim, the Creator God, will not release the power of the Holy Spirit to Christians who are seeking only monetary gain. A selfish Christian cannot rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to meet their goals. Believers who seek God and His Holiness know the character of God.

    Discussion

What is your definition of the word GOOD?

Do you fully realize El Ohim is your father?

    Is God through creating?

Have you allowed God to reveal Himself to you?

What does the author’s vision mean to you?

    Chapter Two

    El Elyon: Most High (Elel-Yone)

The God El Ohim created the heavens and the earth, and El Elyon protects His creation.

It was Abram, the friend of God, to whom this mighty name was first revealed. After he returned from defeating four large armies using only 318 men, he learned the name El Elyon, Most High God. After the successful battle, Melchizedek King of Jerusalem met him. He was a priest of God, El Elyon.

Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God most high. And he blessed him and said: Blessed be Abram of God most high, Possessor of heaven and earth; who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him a tithe of all.

    (Genesis 14:18—20 NKJV)

Since He defeated four armies with only 318 men, He is able to deliver us also.

…God was their rock, And the Most High God their redeemer.

    (Psalms 78:35 NKJV)

El Elyon is our solid rock to keep us from falling. We can bow our knees to our God most high, knowing we can trust His love and protection. Joseph was sold as a slave by his jealous brothers to the house of Potiphar. Instead of complaining, he put his trust in El Elyon, God most high. After many trials, God delivered him. He was able to save his entire family from starvation. In the end, Joseph said to his betrayers,

But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

    (Genesis 50:20 NKJV)

He changes not and knows our struggles and trials. He is aware of the pains that accompany life itself. Nothing gets past El Elyon. He is the one to cry out to when an answer is needed. He rules supreme over all. Nothing happens to us that escapes His notice. We can say with confidence,

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

    (Romans 8:28 NKJV)

We can trust this word because our God is El Elyon. He does not change because of circumstances or roadblocks. Sometimes we think He changes, but He does not. He just opens new dimensions for us to explore.

***I was returning from a year’s teaching and preaching in Papua New Guinea and feeling good about my accomplishments. Forty thousand feet in the stratosphere, I began writing down spiritual victories to share with my Bible class back home when a booming voice came in my soul: I could have accomplished all you did through a rock. I just allowed you to be a spectator. This was a case of God, allowing me to be puffed up with pride for a year. Then He became my judge.

***At the age of seven and kneeling at an altar, I saw myself standing in a grassy area preaching to black people. I met El Elyon that morning, and He called me to the mission field. I didn’t recognize Him until I was thirty-nine years of age. I was in Papua New Guinea, standing in a grassy field preaching to black faces.

This was the first time I heard from God. Since that time, I have heard Him by His audible voice and many times in pictures. One experience, He ran a ticker-tape by my inner eye, much like Western Union in the wild-west days. I have heard Him through His Holy Word, through people’s prophetic messages, and through my knower when I just knew that I knew.

The most exciting message was when He formed a see-through bubble around me (like the Bubble Boy), shielding me from the outside surroundings. Inside His bubble, He said one word, pastor. Another time He said go and another encounter, He said New Guinea and still another occasion His booming voice declared Timor.

    Discussion

El Elyon protects what Elohim created! What does this mean?

Why did God insist on Abraham only using a 318-man army?

Have you experienced an encounter with God?

    Chapter Three:

El Roi God Who Sees El Roi

Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her. You-Are-The-God-Who-sees; for she said, Have I also here seen Him who sees me?

    (Genesis 16:13 NKJV))

Sari’s maid Hagar was ordered to sleep with Abram because his ninety-year-old wife was barren. Sari’s plan to get an heir was successful. Sari was jealous of Hagar and treated her badly and ordered her to take her unborn son and leave.

Hagar was used for Abram’s pleasure. She was insulted and discarded like a piece of dried cactus. Hagar’s dire situation was not her fault. In desperation, she went to the desert to die together. She must have thought it was better to die than to be insulted.

She sat beside a desert spring, pondering her fate. No one seemed to care for her or Abram’s child. She had no friend to call or organization to take her in. Where was the God El Ohim, who Abram talked so highly about? Where was El Elyon the Most High God that he knew so well? Where were they when she needed a friend to tell her troubles to?

Now the angel of the Lord found her by a spring in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur. And He said, Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from and where are you going? She said, I am fleeing from my mistress Sarai.

    (Genesis 16:7–8 NKJV)

Hagar discovered a lot of important things she would not have known except for her trial. El Roi knew where to find her. He knew her name, occupation, and her heartache at home. He knew the child in her womb and what his name and his destiny. He also knew the child’s future.

From the beginning of time, each new child at conception has a destined future. Abortion takes it away. God loves every child even before the moment of conception. He has a divine plan with His gift to the world. Abortion ends God’s heartfelt plan and denies the world of a profound blessing. Hagar’s response:

…You are the God who sees…

    (Genesis 16:13 NKJV)

God in His mercy and love towards Hagar revealed Himself through an angel, allowing her to grasp the magnitude of the person of God, himself.

God also reveals Himself to us through His names, so we can experience His love, compassion, and direction.

    The Divine Plumb-Line Class

***When I teach various classes on the names and character of God, I conclude the teaching using God’s plumb-line as a measuring line. This method measures our behavior and personality traits by God’s Word and standard.
