Police Encounter - Kenneth Davis
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I acknowledge all of the families who have lost loved ones at the hands of police, whose primary responsibility was to preserve human life. More importantly, I acknowledge all those who lost their lives in senseless acts of violence at the hand of racist police officers with no compassion for people of color. For centuries, people of color, all over the south, have been victimized and killed by racist law enforcement officers who were entrusted to protect their lives.
This chapter explains how systemic racism towards people of color still exists and how it contributes to police excessive force.

CHAPTER 1
Social Injustice
Jim Crow still exists!
In the early 1900s, in Minneapolis, Mn, a 100-member mob of White racists attempted to stop a Black family from moving into their newly constructed home. This home was being built in an all-White community. The community leaders used a racial covenant tool, noting they did not want any people of African descent living in their neighborhood.
This plan was obviously created solely to keep Black families from becoming residents. The brazen audacity to advertise their displeasures of seeing a Black family in their Prospect Park community was as bold and discriminative as could be. What’s worse than those who created these covenants is the federal government’s backing, who supported and protected these investors, regardless of the discriminative nature.
For many years, racist people have used very harsh measures as a means of scaring people of color from pursuing everything that could possibly better their lives.
People of color were often met with obstacles, and violence while attempting to vote, get an education, and obtain specific career opportunities.
Any resistance from them would lead to brutal acts of violence, including public lynching. Ironically, the North’s Jim Crow system happened in the same city where a Black man was publicly lynched in 2020; a police officer knelt on his neck.
Today, many members of the White community embrace diversity much more. They understand just how powerful a diverse nation of people can be.
All people contribute to making America the superb nation it is today. However, some racist community members refuse to accept people of color living among them. They have continued to practice the same tactics as they did in the Jim Crow era.
They are apparent as several of them have been recorded, dialing 911 and calling the police on people of color for senseless reasons. Some callers created false allegations of attacks, stating they were in fear of people of color. BBQ Becky called police because a man was simply barbecuing in hopes of an arrest.
