    Foreword

I am honored to be able to share about the amazing transformation God has done in my dear friend Suzanne. I believe it was back in April 2008 when God really brought our paths together. Suzanne and her husband, Jeff, attended our church. I would see them on Sundays, usually sitting in the back of the church. Suzanne seemed as though she didn’t want to be there. Quiet and reserved, she sat during meet-and-greet time, nervously bouncing her legs with a look on her face that said, Please don’t talk to me, I just want to be left alone. Her entire body language screamed anxiety, as though at any second she would stand up and run out the doors of the church. It was that year that my car was stolen out of my driveway, and five months later, it was found, window smashed, weather torn, moldy, with no rims or tires. Suzanne and I had a mutual friend who was the children’s pastor during this time. She told me that Suzanne’s husband was a skilled mechanic and that I should ask him if he would be willing to help with my car. He agreed, and thus began my friendship with the Urbans.

I recall my first encounter with just Suzanne. It was at her kitchen table while I was waiting for Jeff to fix my vehicle. It was awkward, as it was obvious Suzanne felt uncomfortable, still fidgety and nervous in her body language. She was trying to push past that anxiety and engage in conversation with me. It was a slow-cooker relationship with Suzanne that I basically maintained as her husband became our mechanic. He would regularly be fixing one thing or another on our two vehicles. Suzanne was always a friend of a friend, until the day when things changed. After moving to Southern Oregon, I heard from a mutual friend that the Urbans would be staying on their property and that I should stop by and say hello. I recall pulling up behind their RV to see them and Suzanne actually coming up to me, full of excitement and a new confidence with a testimony of what God had done in her life. This was an amazing transformation, but it was just the beginning. From 2010, the start of her transformation, until 2014, which marked the women’s retreat that she organized and spoke at, God was at work doing amazing transformation and growth in Suzanne’s life.
