Into the Unknown

Captain Clive Wessler took one last look at the stars and jotted down his observations in the leather bound notebook beside him. It was official. They were now in uncharted waters. No one had ever sailed this far before and left a record to show the way.

As he gazed out at the approaching storm, he let his mind wander towards the journey to come. A hundred thoughts swirled inside is head. What will the wind patterns be like? What will the tides and currents do to their course? Can the crew withstand the storms they were sure to face? How long will they be at sea? Will their provisions hold out until the make landfall? So many questions without answers. So many uncertainties that can’t possibly be answered until they were experienced firsthand.

Adventurers

Contrary to what Forest Gump told us, life isn’t like a box of chocolates. Life is like a sailing expedition. We are on a journey into the unknown, in uncharted waters, sailing uncertain seas. No one has been this way before. No one can tell us what to expect, how long the journey will last, or what types of storms we will face.

Some people are natural-born adventurers. Driven by their curiosity, they love the unexpected and can’t wait to see what’s around the next corner. They delight in the extra jolt of adrenaline when things get dangerous. So they are always on the lookout for new places to go and new experiences to try. You might find them bungee jumping one weekend, white water rafting the next, and sky diving on their vacation. Yeah, they’re pretty weird.

But even these adrenaline junkies have their limits. While
