Sunday Summer - Anne Gaynelle Johnson

    CHAPTER 1

    Move-In-Day-Surprise!

It’s a bright sunny day in May. Clarice and Clark Summer have just moved into their new home that they’ve been saving money for five years to buy. It’s a ranch-style home with three bedrooms and two and a half baths. It also has a full basement, a den for Clark’s business, a formal dining room, a living room and a large kitchen with an island – with a family room in sight. They also have a deck built on the back with a large backyard. They are excited – it’s their first house.

Clarice and Clark plan to have three children. They desire a boy first and then two girls, but God has other plans for them when it comes to which gender will come first. Clarice has just walked into the den and she is smiling at Clark.

Clarice holds up the pregnancy test strip. We’re pregnant, Clark.

Oh, thank God for answering our prayers, Clark says, jumping for joy. A new house…and our family has started to grow already. God is always on time. Does that test say it’s a boy?

No, silly, says Clarice, it’s just telling us to expect a bundle of joy.

Clark jumps up and tenderly kisses Clarice. I love you, Mrs. Summer. You are my special lady. And I don’t want you standing on your feet so much, he says as he sits
