Marcus L. Lukusa

Marcus L. Lukusa was born in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, on February 15 1984, the second son and child of Ruth Ndjibu and Venance Lukusa. He works as a sales engineering manager for Axis House, supplying these materials to most of the mines up north of South Africa, including DRC, his country of origin. But in his free time, he is a fan of martial arts and was crowned South African national champion of kung fu (Sanshou) and best overall fighter two years in a row, setting records in South Africa’s history of kung Fu in 2010 and 2011. Despite his love for martial arts, he has decided to step down and focus more on his imagination and creative side, making science fiction writing his escape world and hobby. In 2014, he published his first work and first book on the new saga known as Kazungul, which is available worldwide on paperback and e-book format. The first title, Kazungul: Blood ties – Awakening of the Ancestral Curse, was published in November 2014.

    Awareness

    Chapter One

    Origins

B LOOD. THE ONE thing strong enough to impact the source of all blessings, curses, and characters. It has an influence on overall types of behaviours.

It is the one thing you can never break free, run or hide from. It is with you no matter how much you like or hate it.

There have been many stories like this one all around the world, and many believed that there has been some kind of evolution throughout the ages.Times where the gods have influenced our nature. Blessed or cursed us with their very genes to imprint their own aptitudes into our abilities and capacities of thinking, living, loving and believing. This world is not alone and we are not alone in our solar system, not counting our Milky Way.

People grow up hearing many legends from diverse traditions and religions all around the world to scientific discoveries and archaeological facts. But what we seem to never get hold of is actually meeting or seeing some of these things to finally come to the conclusion that there really have been such things. We blindly follow more beliefs, stories, legends and curses.

We hear about vampires, werewolves, titans, elves, and all different kinds of beings that hunt the nights, while many have been hiding in plain sight and these choose to blind us by pointing our attention to the night ones. But we should keep in mind that there are also those living both during the shine of the sun and the dark of the night. These are the ones blessed with the angelic, as well as demonic gifts.

Let me tell you a story, a story regarding one of this kind. A very long time ago when heaven and Earth came to be, a great battle waged amongst the stars. Beings from heaven declared war against each other. The war was like no other before it and it wasn’t the last of its kind either; because others just like it were yet to come. Many of us have been preparing for the coming battle known as the Battle of Gog and Magog.

After the war, beings of light shed blood in the dark skies of space. There was victory in the higher heavens and the war was ceased. But like in many wars, there were casualties on both sides. Two soldiers of the war came to love each other. Daïs and Hamael. After their love grew, they joined their beings together to become one living being. Hadimas, as he came to call himself, searched for a place to continue his peaceful life and he came to live on Earth. He had balance within him of both good and evil, light and darkness, blessing and curse, peace and chaos. But he chose to keep a neutral implication in all things of conflict, and his coming to Earth was for a purpose. A purpose he himself knew not at the time.

So it was said that Hadimas came down to Earth and landed somewhere in a region with great lakes. Somewhere in the east of what is today known as Africa.

He decided to live as a human being and chose humanity over divinity. He fell in love while visiting the country and fathered a family in a great land in the west of the great lake. He had seven sons; Kaluk, Hamad,Pela, Kuta, Sabi, Netto, and Bahati. His sons became defenders of his land, and defenders became generals. The land turned into a kingdom and grew rapidly; knowledge and power sparked from it and soon what Hadimas sworn to himself, disappeared. Neighbouring kingdoms where shaken into fear because of the might of Hadimas’ kingdom.

The Hadimas bloodline was cursed. It was said all of his descendants were hunted by a black dragon spirit, known as Kazungul. This curse had given his descendants tremendous power, intellect, and supernatural abilities. Unlike their father, they couldn’t control their powers, and they couldn’t make these powers sleep. With this curse came something even more terrifying; the thirst for blood. Not only for shedding it but feeding on it. With this practice came a long life. This side of the curse only awakened at night and after a Hadimasien used his physical strength any time during the day after he reached a mature age, which at that time was considered twelve years old.

    Chapter Two

    Fall of Hadimasiens

A MONG THE SEVEN generals, the sons of Hadimas, there was one still young of age at the time of the kingdom’s glory. The youngest and most loved son of Hadimas was known as Enoch Bahati. He was the only one not yet affected by the curse as he was merely a boy. His father took the time to teach him all he knew and tried to find a way for him to avoid this curse and lead a normal life.

Meanwhile, war spread over the land and the neighbouring kingdoms were determined to stop the Hadimasiens lineage. They sought help and council from the gods. With the help of other powers and other knowledge, they found ways to bind the strength of the Hadimasiens and also how to stop and kill them. One by one they hunted Hadimas’ sons down and killed many of them. They united an army and bridged Hadimas’ kingdom’s borders. It was too much for the fallen to keep control and destruction was on the land.

The sons who escaped capture separated from each other to protect their descendants. They fled to all the corners of the continents with the covenant and tried to lead a normal life. The united council created a secret society, one specialised to hunt in secret and terminate the Hadimas bloodline. The secret society was made of the finest warriors, witchdoctors and priests, and they called themselves the Jimina Society.

In the shadows and silence, they were very powerful. But in themselves and by themselves, humans could never and would have never been able to take on the mighty Hadimas. It was said he was immortal, though he was captured and imprisoned by another supreme being who lived in peace with people in the land before Hadimas arrived. It was a powerful spirit, one which was known to cause earthquakes and turmoil should the people anger him, his name was Mpumina. The cracker of the Earth’s centre. Not only him but many other gods played a role in Hadimas’ capture, including Marduck and his allies, allowing humans to triumph over his kingdom. Hadimas swore days and nights to take his revenge. Not more than three of Hadimas’ sons escaped the Jimina Society.

Bahati, the youngest, ran south with his mother and a human knight who was assigned to take care of him. They moved to the south where they learned some of the things which were said in the war in order to control and keep the young Hadimasien safe from his curse. Bahati’s mother Etiga and the knight servant Kato looked after the young boy until he was a young man. The young man turned into a brilliant mind, smart and genius like no Hadimasien before him. He was gentle, peaceful, very loving but also very powerful. His mother made sure that he never exercised or used any physical strength, no work, and no combat. No physical challenges of any kind. But many things were going on in places and situations she could never know of.

Bahati built a mysterious city, a stone citadel, to rest in peace. It was a fortress and very well kept. He knew what was in him, but he never turned into a monster thanks to the many secrets and knowledge. So the fortress was to keep him, and the people around him, safe as well. He called the city Zimba Za Mabwe. Bahati gave the name that only he and his brothers’ descendants would know. It was the name of the black dragon spirit which was hunting their blood line. As he came to find a way to control the beast inside him, he hoped his brothers would somehow hear about the city and come to refuge under his care. It was a risk to take but he judged it was a worthy one. Because in that part of the land the story of the Hadimasiens became a myth which just turned into be a bedtime story for stubborn kids who wouldn’t listen to their parents. Bahati became father to sons and daughters, who he cared for and protected and he loved them dearly.

    Raymond Bakara

T HIS WHOLE STORY somehow involves me. My name is Raymond Bakaraï. Until recently I was just a normal boy, a normal teenager. Well, besides the fact that I grew up wearing a copper bracelet and a malachite collar. I never knew why and never had a choice to take it off due to strict instructions from my parents. They always told me that my life and good health depended on it and that as long as I wore them, I would be safe.

To the few friends I had and all the other kids in the different
