Get Life - Shanna F. Pittman

    Chapter One

    Dallas, Texas Home.

Driving from Dallas Fort Worth International, all I could think about was home because it is the place where my babies are, my life.

Stepping out of my car, my houseman and valet James meeting me and taking my luggage out.

    How’s everything going?

Fine, sir, stated James looking up to the sky.

I walked into the foyer and heard my babies crying at the top of their lung. James looked at me sadly as I took the stairs two at a time looking for my wife, Kara.

Can’t you hear that our daughters are crying, damn come on Kara?

Kara looked at me like I’m the devil, I got to go Trigger. Come on, kiddies, daddy is home! She turned to go into our bedroom and asked James to take her luggage to the service car.

How long are you going to be gone this time Kara?

"I told you a week two at the most, Trigger.

I should never have of agreed to this shit, you need to spend more time with our daughters, said Trigger, picking up his crying daughters, but suddenly he pushed both out from him and was horrified to find both soaking wet. Turning to nannies Drusilla and Rita asking them to bathe and change the girls.

Kara! screamed Trigger. She looked back at him, My luggage is in the car and I’m leaving because my plans haven’t changed. Truthfully, I do not give a damn! She ran to her awaiting car and told the driver to go.

Kara, I’m not finished talking to you, yelled Trigger running down the stairs thinking she was still there but found the foyer empty.

I’m so tired of her shit,

On the in-house intercom, Trigger called Leslie, the housekeeper, asking her to please strip the babies bedding. Leslie said she could wash and flip the mattresses but found the urine had seeped through. He went to see his freshly clean baby girls and asked Leslie what time did she come into work this morning?" she responded her usual, 8:00 a.m. with both the nannies. Trigger nodded okay.

Leslie, please have James come to my office. Turning, strolling to his office, James appeared just as he sat down holding his head in his hands.

What time did my wife get up, James? asked Trigger.

Sir, she left before anyone came to work this morning.

Who the hell was taking care of my girls?

At first Leslie but Mrs. Kara came back, gave her a long shopping list and had me go with her to run errands for her trip. When we left though, we assumed Mrs. Kara would tend to the babies until the nannies got here to take over.

Okay, thanks that will be all.

He returned to his daughters’ nursery and looked at his beautiful girls, who were both clean and dressed. However, Nanny Rita stated that Mrs. Kara pumped no breast milk and there are only six bottles left. Trigger replied okay and that he will figure out something but, in the meantime, put the girls in their portable cribs in their playroom. Second, later the intercom buzzed, James, stated that his brother and parents are down in the living room. Trigger responded on my way down.

Trigger came down and saw his mom Cecile and Shove Sr. lounging on the sofa, looking glorious and dapper as ever. She hugged her son and sensed something was deeply troubling him. Trigger gave his brother Shovie a high-five.

Can you all go with me shopping?

    Why? Shovie asked.

I have to go buy our twins new mattress! It’s a long story! answered Trigger looking embarrassed. His mom just said huh and rolled her eyes. Trigger told James that he would return in a few hours and bring the car around. Cecile got in the front seat taking in her son mood.

I just do not know what I’m going to do about Kara, Trigger explained.

Please do not tell me that cow went on another trip!, Cecile said, looking teed off and basically confused. Trigger nodded his head yes.

Oh, but it gets better, everybody.

Supposedly, she had postpartum depression then we go to the doctor, and he can’t diagnose her!

"Well at least you can have some time to think, his mother said sarcastically.

Now. Cecile is nice, her husband smiled. I have given her all the help in the world, said Trigger. Cecile looked deep in her son’s eyes saying, "I still do not know why she needs all this help, she is just lazy.

Trigger parked in front of the Duxiana Mattress Store and went in the store. He went to the sales person asking if the store sold mattresses that have a waterproof covering.

The sales person Dave said yes, right this way, sir. He enquired about the size.

Trigger responded infant beds. Dave pointed to beauty, no soil, just wipe, and it’s dry in minutes. Trigger- I’ll take two, and can you load them up in the car, here are my keys. Dave caught the keys and smile because his commission will be great! Trigger pays, he notices a Kroger’s grocery store is attached next door. Dave returned his keys; Trigger and his family walk across the street to the grocery store. His mom asked, what are you getting in here?

    Trigger- milk.

    Cecile- it’s right here.

No baby formula, said Trigger waiting for his mother’s reply.

Don’t tell me she went on a trip without leaving formula for her babies, you need to divorce her and take your daughters and move on! snapped Cecile. I’ll just call their pediatrician, said Trigger patting his mother’s shoulder.

Ring, Ring. Hello, Dr. Sylvia’s office, nurse Gail speaking.

This is Trigger Melchizedek Doro; can you ask Dr. Sylvia what type of formula I can give to my babies until their mom returns from vacation?

Dr. Sylvia comes on the line and says hello Mr. Doro. He says hi, stated that his wife no longer desires to breastfeed; therefore we need to know what formula is best? Where are you now? At Kroger’s next to Duxiana Mattress Store. I’ll call you in a prescription for the formula to try out and let me know how your babies do on it," Dr. Sylvia hung up.

Trigger walked over to the pharmacy and asked "excuse me I’m Trigger Melchizedek Doro, I’m here to pick up a prescription for my daughters. The Pharmacist asked the date of birth and name on the prescription? Oh sorry, Sava and Sadie Doro, August 17, 2018, A Pharmacist goes retrieve two cases of formula and Trigger pays. They leave the store and load up the car.

This is ridiculous, Trigger, first piss and now this, his mom said.

"Mom, I know but what can I do if she is unwilling?

Trigger responded. His dad looked at him seriously and stated, she is not the only women that can be a mother to your daughters because frankly son she does not want to be!"

    Go figure!

Trigger receives a foreclosure notice from the bank, he thinks, we own our home! He called the bank stating he received a foreclosure letter on their house. The bank clerk answers he gives her the account information. She said you are four months behind on your second mortgage loan for three million dollars. Trigger started to cuss but knew it wasn’t her fault.

You must be mistaken, may I speak to a manager, Trigger said.

Manager Terrell Seawall comes to the phone. Trigger says this is the account number. The manager puts in information and says yes that in February, I remember this name, your wife stated that the home was in her name and she had all the proper credentials, she got it refinanced for three million dollars.

    Trigger Melchizedek Doro, said Trigger.

Yes, responded the manager. Trigger gave him his credit card number 7156431216342567 and instructed him to pay his wives refinanced payment off!

"Please send me an email confirmation to

    Triggerdoroproductions47@yahoo.com."

Trigger received the data and hung up the phone.

Trigger is heated he thought how he had purchased his wife her dream home and gave it to her as a gift on their wedding day. He tried to call his wife but there was no answer, and her mailbox is still filled. He kept calling for two days straight, almost every second, but there was still no answer, and it has been to date two weeks since she has been gone. His phone rings he thinks. Finally, it is her but, it’s the Paris Police Prefecture in Paris, France.

Nevertheless, he drudged that he must go, but he had no choice.

    Chapter Three

    Columbus, Ohio

Columbus, Ohio Landing at The John Glenn

International Airport, Trigger walk to the entrance right into his awaiting car. He told the driver to head straight to the downtown movie set which, would be ending production for the day and he still had to add a scene to the ending.

In the meantime, Trigger called home to Dallas to speak with his parents to assure him everything was fine. Cecile and Shovie, reassured him That everything there was fine and told him to enjoy himself.

Glancing up to Heaven, his mother prayed every day that he would meet a nice, loving Christian woman to marry that would love him, her granddaughters, and to live happily ever after.

From my lips to God’s ears, prayed Cecile. After finishing up on the movie location, Trigger decided to take a walk around the downtown in search of a nice dinner by the Hilton where all the movie staff was having their dinner, but he wanted some time alone.

Trigger wondered down the different streets until he came upon Dirty Frank’s Hot Dog Palace and dashed in. However, there were no seats left. Just his luck, the waitress asked if he did not mind sharing a booth with the nice-looking lady, but he was not interested in any company but told her to ask anyway if she minds him sitting there.

She said fine, it was a booth that was by a big window but in the corner,

the lady- she said she did not care.

The waitress showed Trigger to her booth and they both spoke hello, ate and worked in utter silence. Both seem to finish at the same exact time and took their bill to the front taking no mind of one another leaving. The next day, Hiba entered Frank’s and found it was packed but the waitress Lilly saw, and she asked Trigger did he mind returning the favor, he said no.

This same ole, same ole routine where they both ordered, worked, and had no conversation proceeded for 5 days straight! Trigger goes back sort of late for dinner; nevertheless, he noticed his companion is not there he leaves and walks into his hotel a little distracted. Trigger notices at a glance a beautiful silhouette of women in a white flowing dress that he from a gaze felt she filled out rather nicely. As a result, he had not noticed a woman in months, but all he could see was her walking alone quite nicely, and he just continued his observation.

Trigger turned and startled himself because low and behold the lady in white was no other than his dinner partner!

"Hi, I missed you at dinner, he said.

Oh, I’m going now, I was entirely too busy earlier to eat and right about now your girl is famished, said Hiba.

Trigger asked where her date was. Hiba just a walking fast and stated it was just her Right! said Trigger Scouts honor, Hiba and gestures with her two fingers touching her heart.

Whatever you say, sighed Trigger It’s true, I work too much, and nobody wants me but nice talking to you, uttered Hiba and hurried along towards the restroom door.

Hey, Trigger said running after her. Finally, I have been working on this charity banquet, and it almost seems like forever, she tugged at her dress a little and kept on walking to the restroom, holding her dress Wait, turn around and let me take your picture to show you how beautiful you are. She turns saying right and hurry up. Trigger snapped the picture and then she darted into the restroom to changes clothes quickly. Trigger waited for her. Hiba comes back out of the restroom with her hair up, t-shirt, jeans, and stilettos. She darts for the door not noticing him. Trigger yells wait, wait. He snaps another picture of her again and saying he didn’t have dessert. Hiba looked at him and said boy come on and you better not be no serial killer because I know how to defend myself and I got mace. Trigger laughed. She replied come on before we can’t get our booth. Trigger liked her sassiness making him smile. They reach their destination and the same waitress, Lilly was smiling right at them, the place was packed, but Lilly said they knew where to go. They go straight no chats to their booth, Hiba goes straight to ordering and Trigger orders dessert, big cookies, and milk. Hiba gets a call that she takes then throws her phone right back in her purse. The food arrived, and she said grace then devoured her food. Trigger stared at Hiba’s hand and saw no ring. Are you married? Hiba, with a mouth full, she quickly holds her hand over her mouth and says yes to everyone and everything else but a man. Trigger nodded. Hiba asked him the same question because the nice ring he was wearing. Trigger tried to take the ring off and stated that his wife died in a car crash three months ago and he just left it on. I’m so sorry to hear, said Hiba. Do you have children, inquired

Trigger. Yes, a whole daycare. she laughed. Okay, he laughed. They talk and talk until morning, ordered the same exact thing and they ate breakfast chatting it up with a few restroom breaks. Pretty soon they got lost in their conversation but realized they both had to get ready to go their own separates ways. Let me get you a cab, Hiba. No thanks, I live just a couple blocks from here, and she begins to run away, before he could ask where, she was gone. Trigger got a call, it was his brother Shovie. Well hello, stranger! Hey man, how is work? It’s all coming together, one more week then I’m done and back home. Shovie said my nieces are getting bigger and more beautiful every day. I miss my princesses. Shovie asked had I met anyone interesting. No, and yes said Trigger. What does that mean? Trigger stated that he met a woman and they had not spoken until recently. You mean from yesterday Shovie asked. Trigger said yes from last night at the diner. A date? Trigger replied yes, and I don’t know, but I love her smile, her conversation, and warmth. Did you get her number? No, but I snapped some pictures of her. Okay send them to me and let me see this woman who caught your eye. Trigger sent them to his brother, and within seconds he says oh, she is a dime piece what’s her name. I don’t know. Bro, you are slipping, get her name and number. Trigger said right, and they hang up laughing. The next day on a Sunday morning, Trigger was all dressed, and he thought to himself that he had no place to go. He sure would like to see his new love interest and thought I got to eat, and she must too and started out to Frank’s. Grabbing a newspaper, he notices his breakfast/dinner partner all dressed up running down the street, so he ran behind her saying, where we are going?

She said she was going to church and that she was late because she overslept. I got to teach Sunday school. What time are you suppose-to-be there? 10:15 am. Trigger grabbed her arm and informed her that time went back an hour, its 9:15am! Hiba looks at the big downtown clock she says thank you, Jesus. Hiba goes to the fruit stand and gets ready to pay for an apple, but Trigger pays and got one for himself. They both walk eating their apples then Hiba asked him where he going Trigger stated to Sunday school and church with you. I’m a Christian woman, and Trigger answered that he was too but a Christian man. Right, looking him up and down and she said, you look all right. No, but I will after be putting on a suit. Go on then, its six blocks down, to the big church at the end of the corner with the red door. She tried to show him, but Trigger paid no attention to her directions and said, you can’t wait for me?
