The press junket for Jessica Hamerly had been a success. Her single was in the Top Ten on iTunes, and her next concert, though at a small venue, was already sold out. As part of the production team, Tabby would be comfortable backstage listening to the kind of music she had always enjoyed and was growing to love.

Tabby was thankful for her busy work schedule because she had no time to wallow in the missing of Rick. Their last night together had been beautiful and fill with love, while simultaneously heartbreaking and hurtful.

Each day that passed, and more than a month had, since seeing him, made it easier, but she still thought of him daily, at least once. Something random would trigger the thought, such as the taste of coffee, though she didn’t go to the little café, and she never walked by his bar, going a block out of the way to avoid it if necessary.

The sound of a bike roaring down the street always caught her ears, and she would either sigh with the hope it was Rick coming to see her, or she would tense up and jerk her head around, making sure one of his gang friends hadn’t decided today was the day they needed her.

Needed to use her to force Rick into some action or other. Worried for her own safety, she rarely went anywhere but work or her apartment unless accompanied by several of her friends from work.
