Dedication I
I have spent time, in my darkest moments, writing about love.
I always wondered whether these were lonely poems, or a premonition of something beautiful.
Now I know.
I wrote these poems for you, but I wrote them then, because my soul knew I would be too consumed with love to write them now.
Dedication II
I have spent time, in my darkest moments, writing about love.
I always wondered whether these were lonely poems, or a premonition of something beautiful.
I give these lonely poems to you, world, to give to those you love;
so when your own souls are so
consumed with love, that you cannot find the words, I hope you use mine.
History
I wish to make history,
not be a part of it.
Sonnet I
Her eyes, prey fell, in which, this mortal soul,
Such grace, her poise, like ballet’s finest art
And touch, so tender, makes living seem whole;
She soothes, subdues, and calms my restless heart.
Her spirit, enchanting, beautiful, free
Laughter, engaging, like music to ears
What hath done I, for fate to award me,
Such perfection, it can bring a man tears.
A king, am I, to have this princess’ hand,
Her gentle kiss, my drug, food, my nectar,
Her intellect, my passions understand,
Solace, now but shadow, only spectre.
My beautiful girl, my angel, princess
My heart’s adoration, and nothing less.
Sonnet II
For man knows not he’s ill till he is healed,
And feels at once, his life has been renewed!
As fate, whose feet before which now he kneels.
Hath given him the prize which he pursued.
From daybreak she pervades his waking mind,
His thoughts again seduced by world around.
In dreaming? Ah! Some solace shall he find?
Alas, for only dreams of her are found.
What magic hath disarmed a cold man’s heart?
And taken it from darkness into light.
What beauty hath brought spark back to his eyes?
Delivering them from blindness giving sight.
So cruel the hands who doth control his fate,
As just as man feels love, it’s all too late.
Surrender
my heart has not the strength to beat without you.
I surrender.
my soul has not the will to live without you.
I surrender
my eyes have not the need to see without you.
I surrender
my world does not exist without you.
I surrender
Final Draft
Dear Life,
I’m sorry I have to leave you
This just isn’t working.
It’s not you, its me.
No matter how hard I try,
You cannot give me what I want.
I will never change, and nor will you.
Goodbye, All my love,
Anon.
Safe from Drowning
Remaining close to shore,
the human was safe from drowning.
‘Nature,’ said the ocean,
‘needs my depth to live–and you,
my child, need yours.’
Swim.
Ocean
‘This water’ said the ocean,
lapping gently at my feet,
‘is as old as the earth.’
I looked at the sand between my toes,
and realised it was mountains.
‘When I win,’ said the ocean,
lapping gently at my feet,
‘everything will be sand.’
Rain
I raised my palms to catch the rain,
And realised I was the ocean.
I made the rain,
the rain made me.
Eyes
It is within our eyes, the universe, and our souls, are born. In our minds, they are destroyed.
Smoke
She dances with contempt,
Filling the room,
Obscuring clarity.
We remain fixed.
Mesmerised by her sinuous form,
her dark beauty.
Strands of the devil’s ballet,
forming an oppressive whole.
Choking.
Being Human
Being human is fatal.
