    Billionaire Romance - Montana Night

    CHAPTER 1

    ––––––––

Amanda Cardwell sunk down into her seat, feeling like the most improbable mail-order bride of all time. She rode the tram tracks into Orlando International Airport, and her auburn locks glinted in the sunshine streaming through the tram car window. She could feel the cool air conditioning mixed with the warm tropical breeze caressing her curvy legs.

She was clinging to her most important items, Louis Vuitton handbag in one hand, iPhone in the other. Her luggage from the flight was carry-on only.

Amanda let out her breath slowly. I still can’t believe Emma talked me into this. Although she had agreed to help her best friend Emma Baker by taking her place as a mail-order bride, Amanda couldn’t stop thinking that this was a new all-time low.

She had been on a roll lately, racking up a depressing string of romantic misfires. "That’s me - Amanda Cardwell, Senior Lab Chemist and Senior Loser in Love, formally known to date various addicts, cheats, and secretly married men," she thought to herself as the tram settled at the terminal. Her last spectacular disaster was seven months ago. His name was Scott Schermer. A Wall Street broker who had a thing for full-figured redheads, and hiding his wedding ring.

That had been the last straw. She finally had enough of liaisons. She couldn’t stand being in yet another relationship where she wasn’t valued or appreciated.

To get her mind off the Scott fiasco, Amanda used up her vacation days during the summer months partying it up with Emma. They had reverted to their former party days in a way that they hadn’t done since college. It was a crazy summer. They went on a road trip travelling around watching live music whilst bunking in Emma’s truck.  They even ended up along the coast where they rented a boat for a short trip down river. Summer whizzed away in a haze of drunken nights filled with endless jugs of sangria and even a few intimate moments with hunky strangers. Then Emma had gone ahead and done the unthinkable: she had fallen in love.

Gone off the deep end. Amanda bit her lower lip. She was happy for her friend. However it brought home the fact that although she was fast approaching 30, she had no serious relationship and her biological clock was ticking away.

A new chat message blinked in on her phone.

Did you make it there OK? Call me!

Amanda crossed her leg, tossed her amber hair over her shoulder, and hit speed dial. A man reading the newspaper glanced her way momentarily. His eyes lingered on her pin-up legs before sticking his face back behind the sports section.

Hello, Amanda? Is that you? Emma sounded far away.

Yes, it’s me. Amanda started rubbing her forehead. I am freaking out. This is a bad idea. What if I get kidnapped at this Billionaire’s house? What’s he going to do when he sees that I am not you?

Of all the things that had come out of Amanda’s mouth, the last statement was without a doubt the one she dreaded the most. Emma was supermodel slim with looks to match. Although a madcap adventure to a billionaire’s mansion was right up Amanda’s alley (she was on a roll after all) being compared to a Cameron Diaz look-a-like and found lacking wasn’t.

Just do it the way we rehearsed. It’s bulletproof, Emma said with an impatient sigh.

Amanda took a deep breath and tried to remember why the hell she was putting herself through all this.

Truth be told Emma was like a sister to her. It all started over 12 years ago. They met each other on her very first day at Babson College in Massachusetts. They hit it off right away. Whether it was studying in the science lab, drinking at Beat the Clock, or hot steamy dorm room nights with cute reporters from the Communications Block, they had become inseparable friends. Today that friendship was being tested to its limits. Amanda took another deep breath.

Let me get this straight, just one more time for the record. You met a guy on-line on a dating site, and he turns out to be a CEO/Billionaire/Lonely spinster. And so you get him on a web cam, flash your legs and probably show him your pussy galore -

Amanda! I did no such thing. Believe you me, I wanted to. We just didn’t get that far. Emma laughed out loud.

The man reading the newspaper glanced in Amanda’s direction again. His eyes lingered suggestively on her ample bosom before sticking his face back behind the sports section. Note to self, don’t talk about pussy out loud on a packed tram.

Great. Amanda rolled her eyes. So then he sends you 50 thousand bucks and asks you to marry him....

    Right.

And then you went ahead and spent all the money last summer when we tore up New York and the Hampton’s.

It’s not about the money Amanda. Tony is the man of my dreams. We have a special connection. There’s no way I can go through with the mail-order wedding now!

"Emma for God’s sake, you are completely hopeless. You shouldn’t have
