The Poems
Many poems in A Reckless Descent from Eternity have won or have been placed or commended in literary competitions including Island’s Gwen Harwood Poetry Award, Overland’s Judith Wright Poetry Award, the Orange Arts Council’s Banjo Paterson Award and several Fellowship of Australian Writers Tasmania (FAWTAS) awards. Earlier versions of poems published here have appeared in the journals Island, New England Review, Blue Giraffe, The Mozzie, Thirst, Famous Reporter, Marginata, RePUBlic Readings, The Poets’ Republic, and in the Weekend Australian Review. Some poems have been re-published in the anthologies Running through the Stars, FAWTAS, 2004, A River of Verse, Black River Press, 2004, Mood Cumulus, Central Coast Writers, 2005, The Weighing of the Heart, Sunline Press, 2007, A Net of Hands, FAWTAS 2009, and in the chapbook Echoes from the Firetrails, Tom Collins House, 2004. Certain poems in this collection have also been published online in The Write Stuff Showcase of Tasmanian Poetry and Tasmanian Times.
