Foreword
If you are in a position where you have to speak in front of a large audience, answer questions, or represent your organization in events and you have ever struggled with articulating your thoughts in a concise manner, this manual is a must-read. It provides a concise process of organizing your thoughts into buckets
for easy retrieval. It helps you to quickly, consistently, and confidently articulate the core mission and vision of your organization, thereby making it applicable in addressing day-to-day challenges and situations that you confront and are asked about. The principles can be applied in various industries and is an excellent training tool for new leaders and a great resource for seasoned ones.

Who Should Read This Manual?
As a leader, have you ever found yourself in a position struggling to answer a question? You may start off well and provide clear, concise
thoughts. You may have even garnered the attention of the one who posed the question for a brief moment, and then, somewhere along the way, your response becomes lost and seemingly disconnected. Your palms start to sweat, your heart starts to race, and your mouth goes dry. You attempt to gather your thoughts and try to remember the question and point you were making, but it is too late. So, you end it with a polite smile as the one who was listening smiles back. Awkward!
Have you ever walked away from that encounter, wondering if you made any sense? Maybe your experience has not been as intimate as the one previously described. Perhaps your profession requires you to frequently speak before large audiences and respond to their questions afterward. You realize as you stand in front of these crowds, you are not only representing yourself but your organization. Who doesn’t want to make a good impression? How can one do that without knowing what types of questions will be asked? If you have had these experiences, you are not alone, and this guidebook is for you. This guide will give some practical tools to use, and you will see immediate results in your confidence and ability to answer any question that is posed.
There is no magic bullet to answering questions or anticipating what will be asked; however, based on your field, you can predict the type of inquiries that will be made, and as a result, you can be prepared with a clear, concise solid response. This ability is grounded in a technique I have called the Five Buckets of Leadership: Speaking in the Moment.
I’ll explain it more in the following chapter. This technique helps you to zero in on the heart of the question and respond accordingly. Often, we get bogged down with the details of the question and lose sight of the core inquiry. As an educator, I have used this whenever I speak to my staff, my community members, or other valuable stakeholders. Because of its design, any leader in any organization can apply the principles.
