Please help us. I’ve heard about your work from others in the town, and I really don’t know where else to turn. The police can’t or won’t help us, and the children are becoming frightened.

It was late November, when the call came in to The I. P. S., the Investigative Paranormal Society, about a possible case to investigate. Little activity had occurred since their battle with the demon Maledicus, and for that, they were grateful, but they still hoped for another paranormal case to investigate. It was, after all, why this society existed.

Since they rotated who would take the calls and serve as the manager of their group on a three-month basis, the call came in to Roosevelt. He listened to the recording one afternoon when he arrived home from a visit to a local bookstore. He played it several times, then he called the others and told them, We need to meet. I believe we may have a case to investigate.

After Roosevelt hung up the phone, he realized that he needed this diversion. The Christmas season was not his best time of year, not since his beloved wife, Sarah’s death. She had always loved the whole season, the decorations, the celebrations, the putting up of a tree, exchanging presents with Roosevelt on Christmas morning and then hosting a dinner for friends late in the evening on Christmas Day. It had always been a time of great joy.
