The amphitheater had that damp smell of age like so many other venues James Rosen had lectured in before. This was his... let’s see now, thirty fourth this year alone. Realizing that he felt tired. There were so many more to come and it was starting to feel like a hall without a door. As he was lost in his musings, a few students began to drift in and take seats at the upper levels drawing his attention. Time to get on with it.
The hall’s tiered seating rose above the stage shaped in the classic Greek 3/4 arena. So many of these small college lecture halls built in the mid-nineteen hundreds followed that plan. Seating rose steeply a full twelve rows with a wide gallery above running behind the last row of seats. The arena offered
