Preface
In preparing to write this book, two quotations came to mind.
The more things change, the more they remain the same
. Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr (Les Guêpes, July 1848)
"History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. Sometimes people say, Here is something new!
Actually, it is old; nothing is ever truly new." Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 (New Living Translation).
Both speak to the heart of timeless truths. Every generation thinks it is beholding societal changes like no one else has ever experienced. But the truth of mankind’s history from a perspective of God, is that we continue repeating the same patterns of behavior. They are just perceived differently because mankind always lives in the present tense.
One of those human perceptions is that good intentions with a sincere heart pleases God and makes us good people. Today in the United States and elsewhere, people who label themselves faithful Christians approve and promote values that conflict with Biblical commandments because they insist that they are reflecting humanistic compassion and caring. Furthermore, they state that surely God approves of their views and actions because they have good intentions and a sincere heart
.
This book examines that premise as to whether it aligns with God’s word.

Chapter 1- Asking the Eternal Questions
One of the most often asked questions I get by both non-Christians and people who say they are Christians is:
If God sees that I have good intentions towards others and I sincerely desire to love God, won’t He be pleased with this and let me into heaven?
Human reason and worldly logic conclude that God must be reasonable to our sense of
