Daisy and Ollie Pig's Pigtastic Adventures! - Gaby DeGroat
Chapter 1 – The Pigtastic Life of Daisy and Ollie Pig
We’re going out to find food for you hungry, little pigs. We should back soon. You two stay inside, and no pig fighting, please,
our parents snorted. Ollie and I knew the rules, so we agreed.
My brother and I had fun together, as usual. We did chores, took naps, and had our snacks. Then, we waited, and waited, for our parents to return home to us. Sadly, they never returned home. We never saw our pigtastic, parents ever again. That was the most pig awful day of our young, curly tails lives.
Now, for the first time, we were piggy sad, angry, and worried. We knew that they must have gotten lost, or something pig-awful happened to them.
Whatever kept them away from us was too sad to think, or grunt about, so we never did. We felt the loss of our parents but, we were thankful to have each other. Ollie and I made our Pig promise to stay together and take care of each other, no matter what. We counted our piggy blessings and did our best to make our parents proud. Ollie and I were still team curly tails, we still had our forest cabin, and our parents taught us forest survival skills. We remembered our parent’s lessons and used them right away.
Every morning, we groomed ourselves, cleaned our cabin, collected berries, bathed in the stream, and played our piggy games. Every evening, before sunset, we ran our curly tails inside. Run for your life, go inside, get under your bed, and hide!
That was the running song we sang every evening while racing our curly tails
