Introduction

our dreams are on the outside of fear and you must be willing to take that step into the unknown. When you step past fear, you step into achieving your goals and dreams. I say this from personal experience because I was comfortable with fear. I always wanted more, and I knew I could achieve more but the fear of putting myself out there and not believing in me kept me imprisoned for years. I am currently on the path to my dreams; I have not achieved them all yet, but I am on the path to achieving them.
Scared to be me is a true story of my life where I share my past and where I came from to be the person I am today.
This book not only contains my personal story but also the different steps I took to achieve certain things in my life.
The goal of this book is to show you how I moved from a horrible past with low self-esteem to loving myself and being confident to start my business, a YouTube channel and a podcast along with leaving a controlling husband.
This book is not made to point fingers at the people that did me wrong but to help those people out there that had a painful past and do not know how to confront the pain to overcome it so you can step into the amazing person you were meant to be.
I hope my story reaches those people that need it and that it helps you in whatever area in your life that you have the most fears and self-doubt.
Kindly note all names used in the book are fake because this book is not meant to shame people in public but to help the person that needs it.
2 Before Teens
I
was born on a small island to a mentally ill mother and an extremely sweet father. My father and mother broke up before I turned 2 years old, but I never knew why they broke up, all I can remember is not seeing my mother anymore at the house.
How my mother became mentally ill you might ask, well it is because when my mother was 6 years old, her father killed her mother; he hanged her mother in the middle of the front house and woke up all the children and showed them their mother hanging from the roof with her tongue hanging from her mouth.
This incident damaged my mother’s brothers and sisters in so many ways; those who have not turned crazy/mentally ill suffer from some sort of fear that they don’t even know is there.
I have one memory with my mother and father together when I was a baby and I was sleeping on a mattress on the floor between the 2 of them, and when I opened my eyes, I was terrified of my mother because she had a nasty burn on her face which she received when she got my crazy uncle mad and he threw hot water in her face which made her face very ugly and I was terrified when I woke up in the middle of the night. This is the last and only time I can remember my father and mother together.
My next memory is living in a tiny 2-bedroom house with my father, his 2 brothers, and my grandmother. Every morning when both my sister and I were in bed, we would sing out loud and slow ‘I want my tea teaaaaa' repeatedly which would drive my father crazy and he would fret which made us do it more because our father never shouted at us and was really fun, so we knew that if we annoyed him, the only thing he would say was ‘cheese-on man, I making de tea' which was followed by a really long stupse, which made me and my sister giggle silently because it was so funny. My father moved out with his new girlfriend leaving me and my sister with my grandmother and uncles, before my sister started school.
When I was 2 years old, my sister started school and I hated being home without her, so I cried all day until she came home. This got really frustrating for my Grandmother and she got me into school the moment I turned 3 years old.
Since my mother was mentally ill, I was raised by my beautiful Grandmother and my good Uncle and they were my parents. My uncle had his own family, but he lived with us and disciplined us when needed. My grandmother was loving and caring; she did all she could to make sure that both I and my sister got the love and care we deserved from a mother. I used to love listening to all her stories about school and the Pit-Toilet Rats' ha-ha, they had a song
