Spiritual Entrepreneurship - Lysandro Inacio
SUMMARY
If you are an entrepreneur, or desire to become one, God is inviting you to walk in your purpose and/or step into entrepreneurship with courage and faith. You have a specific task to fulfill. Your talents are too unique and valuable not to be exploited and the future is waiting on your creativity!
Did you ever stop and think about who invented
entrepreneurship? The answer might surprise you. Entrepreneurship is not a human invention. It existed before mankind. Entrepreneurship is the willingness to undertake action with a desired result in mind. Creation is the first result of such undertaking. Being created in the image of God means that we too have this feature build within us. God’s original intention was for mankind to be productive and prosper in a sustainable environment.
Think of it this way: The first business venture on earth was the Garden of Eden, where the first human being received the first instruction to undertake: be fruitful and multiply
. This first human, Adam, was designed with the capacity, skills, knowledge, and understanding to be a successful business magnate. Adam was an entrepreneur by design, not by faith, because he walked with God. God placed him in a known environment that was perfectly designed to sustain him and his family in all their needs.
The first breach of a business contract occurred in this business venture called Eden. This incident abruptly brought an end to Adam and Eve’s presence in this sustainable environment and forced them into an unknown environment that required hard labor to produce and survive.
This is the world we live in today: a world filled with uncertainties, risks, and struggles, but also filled with endless opportunities. It is a world in need of your specific talents and creativity. You must tap into these opportunities and create new products or services for the benefit of mankind.
Entrepreneurship has never left the world. Nevertheless, uncertainties and financial risks have discouraged many people from venturing, or continuing their venture, into entrepreneurship. In many cases, lack of courage to act, lack of faith to believe or lack of perseverance to continue, have prematurely ended the journey. Only a few people have truly benefited from their capacity and creativity to become the successful and inspiring entrepreneurs we know today.
But there is another way to enter this journey filled with uncertainties. It requires mankind to step out of the security and comfort of what is known and step into the unknown with faith, courage and expectation. If you want to be an entrepreneur, you must defeat its biggest enemies; doubt and fear. You must believe that you have what it takes to succeed and allow your talents and skills to guide you to your purpose!
PREFACE
The idea to write this book struck me during a seminar led by leadership expert John Maxwell in Curaçao. My wife insisted that we participate and knowing that a happy wife makes a happy life, I granted her wish. During the seminar, I received a clear instruction from God: Write a book about your experience as an entrepreneur and how it came about in your life. At first, this alien thought seemed unrealistic because I didn’t have the experience or skills to write (I also have dyslexia). But when I shared this idea with my wife, she looked at me and said, I already received this in a vision.
The instruction was clear and confirmed; now it was up to me to be committed and obedient.
Considering my lack of writing skills, I asked God to guide me through the process of producing this book. God needed to unveil the hidden capacity in me that He had blessed me with. I needed a title, I needed chapters, I needed content, and God provided. This book is proof of His faithfulness, unconditional love, and desire for us to prosper and be successful.
Each one of us has been gifted with talents, sometimes hidden and untouched, that we need to exploit to serve and expand God’s kingdom here on earth. It is not going to be achieved by nations and conquests or corporations; it must be achieved by you and me. With a singlemindedness to obey the first instruction given to us by the One who created us in His express image,
so that when we change the world and make it a better place.
You and I were designed by God, before the foundation of the earth, to bring about this change. My experiences throughout my entrepreneurial journey played a crucial role in my understanding of the spiritual elements in entrepreneurship. I can truly say that I was privileged and favored to receive the divine inspiration and testimonials to write this book. While documenting my journey, I had a helicopter view that showed me how God had purposely directed me toward this moment. I had been transformed from a loyal employee to an entrepreneur and finally into an entrepreneur by faith.
The purpose of this book is to introduce a new perspective about entrepreneurship that may have been overlooked or underestimated: a spiritual perspective. Having knowledge of business strategies and best practices doesn’t make you an entrepreneur. It is a change in your mind that enables you to convert problems into opportunities and a change in your spirit that gives you the desire to serve. This change happens in the spiritual realm; therefore, entrepreneurship can’t be taught with theories.
The cultivation of the spiritual entrepreneur requires a reconciliation process that is driven by the principles established by God. These principles are fundamental for the growth process of spiritual elements such as character and faith. God has used these principles throughout time to form His servants. He is still applying the same principles today to prepare us to become His servants to expand the kingdom of Heaven on earth.
A spiritual entrepreneur is committed to daily work to expand this kingdom. With his products, services, attitude, and character, he consciously represents the culture of this kingdom. His objective is not primarily financial or material gain, but expansion of the kingdom of heaven on earth by adding value to the lives of others. His gain is in the spirit; the rest will follow according to God’s promises of prosperity, wealth, and welfare.
As I look back, the sequence of events in my life all made perfect sense. Everything was strategically planned and executed to prepare me for tasks that needed to be accomplished, including this book. Looking back also made me realize how grateful I must be for all the known and unknown favors I’ve received throughout my entrepreneurial journey. I simply cannot take credit for what God has enabled me to accomplish. Therefore, to God be all the glory!
