Introduction

Pulse racing. Clenched teeth. Furrowed brows. Tear-soaked pillows saturated with anger. How did it all get so out of hand? When did it creep in and eat away at the love, peace, optimism, and joy that once dwelled inside this now cold heart? What is the it you ask? Jealousy - the hope assassin. Envy and covetousness are its close cousins. When they get together, guaranteed disaster and chaos show up to wreak uncontrollable havoc. The only cure for a jealous, diseased heart is learning to love and accept yourself through God’s eyes.

The journey of writing my debut book has been filled with a plethora of roller coaster emotions. The enemy attempted to use those feelings of inadequacy and self-sabotage to destroy my efforts. After playing mental tug of war, I made the decision to trust that God would take care of everything, just as He has always done. Those days, when I cried out to God in fear and doubt about healing in the areas of comparison and jealousy that were not complete, He reminded me it was only Satan using scars that were left behind.
