Ironic isn’t it? In January 2020, The World Health Organization designated 2020 the international year of the Nurse to honor the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birthday.
Two months later in March 2020, COVID-19 came and said to the nurses, show me what makes you so special this year. You have taken on this challenge and you continue to show this virus your skills, your professionalism, compassion, sympathy, empathy, and advocacy. For this, the world now calls you a Hero.
This book gives a glimpse into the world of nursing that the world does not see often until they are faced with an illness. They will then see the daily grind of the nurse, the rescuer and the mender. The world will now see why you are truly a hero in uniform.
People say that the least recognized but appreciated profession on this earth is made of those who make the most meaningful contributions to society and mankind. This statement is especially profound due to the fact that these brave men and women are also on the front lines of dealing with the pandemic of the century.
These are the nurses, police officers, fire fighters and teachers. These professional he/sheroes heal, teach, and protect society from its adversaries. Since they say you can only teach or preach what you know, I am applauding my fellow nurses who make it through the difficult task of caring for people for less income than other professional counterparts on Wall Street, for example. The nurses on the front line who get up every day or night to care for patients with a disease that is easily contracted. Nurses who are fearful of contracting this pandemic virus called COVID-19, and possibly taking it home to their loved ones. Regardless, they go, and they bravely provide care to anyone who needs it, despite their fear. This book will guide new and established nurses with tips on getting through the day and situations with co-workers and patients. Included is humour to help you get over the seriousness of medicine, and healthy tips and guidelines for the forgotten, compassion-fatigued
