About this ebook

Excerpt from 'From Player to Coach'

When I first went to Seattle my intentions were to try to establish myself as a player and to play for as long as possible. Going into the second season I could see that soccer was on the up and that the club were very much into promoting both the Sounders and Soccer.

This was my first taste of coaching and making public appearances, fortunately through John Best and Jimmy Gabriel I had two great role models.

    Dedication

IN OCTOBER 2015 I HAD surgery for bowel cancer and while laying in the hospital bed (feeling a bit sorry for myself) I couldn’t help but think about all those young kids that are suffering with this horrible disease and I thanked God that at least I had had a chance to experience life and had done many of the things I had set out to do.

It was also about the same time I had written ‘Eternal Blue Forever Green’ and I thought that it would be great to donate all of my proceeds to Children with Cancer so with that in mind I would like to dedicate this book to Children with Cancer.

Unfortunately it has already had an impact with many games being postponed and although no longer being involved in the game I have enjoyed watching the Premier League games that have been televised. For those that have read my last couple of books I’m sure many of you are saying that is a bit of a contradiction to what he said earlier. For those that haven’t read them what I said at the beginning of the first lockdown was
