    Tori, Tori!

The woman continued, walking along the dark street corner.

Tori, Tori.  Would you please answer me, TORI?

She continued, even faster.  Her back-length dark hair blew in the wind even as she continued making her strides against the backdrop of the colorful city bokeh lights. She was trying to move away from me.  I wasn't sure why she wouldn't turn around or even stop.  It must have been that skirt she was wearing – oh yeah it was way short.  Never seen her looking like this before.

Come on, Tori, you've got to stop; it's me, remember?

The click-click of her tall heels against the busy roadway resonated even more; now she was running away from me.

Isn't she cold tonight? I wondered. I would have taken off my coat just to cover her dark brown tank-top.  She knew I would have done anything for her.  I was more than happy to get a glimpse of her again. You wouldn't believe how happy I was. It had been a long, long time.  A long, long, long time, Tori.

Tori, no! You're going to get run over!

I held my hands on my head after watching her dashing across the busy 6-lane motorway.  I then heard the horn of the lorry, sounding like a dozen trombones combined.  It did swerve to avoid running her over, slamming into this pickup truck.  Cars then started twist and turning, making their headlights look like torches of angry night warriors, as the drivers tried to avoid collision.  The domino effect was bizarre,  tire screech, the hitting of broken fragments of windshield against the hard asphalt – everything was crazy as hell.

TORI! I hollered.  My feet became week, could hardly hold me up.  If anything had happened to her then it would have been all my fault.  I would never ever want to see her hurt.  She knew that too.

Thank Heavens; she's made it, I gasped, clasping my hands after seeing her on the other side of the motorway. She pulled herself up from off the pavement.

Tori, why are you running from me?  Please, stop, Tori, I pleaded.  She headed off into the alley nearby.

Where the heck is she going at this time of the night? It's really dark around there, I wondered.  I moved towards her, making my way across the confused motorway.

Oh, oh!  I saw the halogen headlights, almost bright enough to pitch dawn on the night. I heard the tire screech.  I closed my eyes and then I tried to dive from the path of this vehicle.  I ended up on its bonnet and then rolled a few times after getting a rough embrace of the pavement where Tori stood.

There was no time to check for bruises or broken limbs, no time to check for pain.  I took 3 deep breaths. I was going after her; nothing would stop me.  I needed to see Tori again.

Where are you, Tori? I continued, hopping along the lonely street of the alley, which was poorly lit, thanks to a few broken street torches.

What would Tori be doing around here?  I had to skip the puddles in the narrow roadway, that must have been there because of the rain 15 or 20 minutes ago.  I hopped my away along.

I saw large rats, making their way from one brick building to the next, probably ready to make their assault on the uncovered garbage bins.

    Man, this place is stink.

I then heard the rattling of metal.  It was her, climbing this shaky outdoor staircase.

I continued my trail, hopping along.

Those skirts are too short to be climbing that stairway, Tori, I whispered as I followed her up.  This door opened up after she reached the third storey of the dilapidated brick building.  It was then closed after she went inside.

Knock, Knock, I hammered, using my knuckles. Is this home, Tori?

The door opened up once more.

    Tori?

There stood this dude who sported a crew-cut hairstyle.  He pulled this dark coat over his floral shirt and then he lit a cigar.

    May we help you?

I took a look at the scar on his clean-cut beard and the Adam's apple that protruded from his neck.

I needed...to see...Tori, I stuttered.  Wasn't sure what to say to him or how to even say it.  Wasn't sure what kind of person he was; he definitely looked like the type you don't mess with.

    You want to see who?

    Tori.

Afraid you've got the wrong person, chap.

No, how could it be?  It's her, Tori.

From his cold glare I knew what was going through his mind – time for me to leave.

My heart then skipped a beat, like it always did whenever I saw her.  She stood behind him with her arms folded.

    Tori?

Juliet, you know this punk? he asked her.

    She shook her head.

Juliet?  She's not Juliet – She's Tori. Don't you remember me, Tori? I asked, looking over the guy's shoulders.

Listen, Kiddo, he warned.  I don't have all night; go.  And Juliet, he looked behind him, go to your room!

    She complied, submissively, moving away.

Listen, Sir, I'm not a kid; I'm a medical student. Neither is Tori.  How dare you talk to her like that? I stormed.

He raised a brow. Oh, he jeered. I see, you're a doctor.  Just tell me which one of your organs you'd love to donate?  He gently moved his coat, giving me a glimpse of his chrome weapon.

You leave in 5 seconds or I'll be more than happy to make you take the shorter route down, he giggled, creepily while we both looked down, from the third storey of the building, on the cold wet streets of the alley.

I did comply.  I thought about the way she stared at me. It was her alright.  She was no Juliet.  It just couldn't have been anyone else. It had to be her. Yes she had grown older and may not be as skinny as she was but it was her alright.  Her hair was now black
