About this ebook

On an Ordinary day, when the Townsend siblings go to school, they get caught up in the lives of four mysterious strangers. They decide to investigate the strange situation by using their magical ability that they were born with. While the Townsends hide within the shadow of the mysterious teen’s shadows they get swept back in time to play a crucial role in an ancient confrontation between a race of beings that was believed to be only a myth. Now stuck in the past they face the greatest challenge of their lives, to save this dieing race and their family from extinction, and perhaps even the world. The Townsends & the Hayes teens must find the courage to do what they fear the most. They now stand united because of two diaries, a prophecy, and a Dragon legacy of blood and tears.

    Rave Reviews

. . I found this book an exciting read and couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed discovering the truth about the eight children and the Prophecy. Their journey was enthralling and I felt like I was also a part of the journey, five of five stars. I look forward to the sequel.

    ~Reviewed by Ayisha Blevins~

. . I found both sets of Townsend and Hayes twins to be funny. I enjoyed the various dialects assigned to the different races and clans that appeared throughout the story. My favorite scene is where Nick learns that Sashi used him to arouse Jeremiah’s interest. I’m sure that the overall rating for the sequel will rate high.

~Reviewed by Cheryl from Ghostwriter Reviews ~

. . Dragon Tears: The Legacy is an AWESOME book that balances adventure magic and plot perfectly.

    ~Young Adult Literary Reviews~

. . . Exactly the stuff magical masterpieces are made of. This book made me want to read for hours because it is so fantastic, great for all ages.

~The Write Time Literary Reviews ~

. . . It’s very rare, in this day and age of Harry Potter mania (and yes, I admit I’m a very devoted victim!) to find a fantasy story that can actually hold your attention. With Dragon Tears: The Legacy, though, author Tabitha R Pike manages to do just that from the very first page to the last. Not to mention, thank the Dragons, that there’s already another book planned in the series.

    Chapter 1

    A Hiding Place

Amber’s blond hair hung over her eyes; tall and slender, she was such a young beautiful girl. Strong, ambitious and full of spirit, she always spoke her mind. Today she just wanted to go un-noticed. She moved her hair out of her eyes as she sat in the corner of the room, searching for a place to hide. Her attention was drawn to a young girl with dark shoulder length hair who wore glasses. They were the same height, and Amber decided she’d be perfect. She was a quite girl and never got into any trouble. It was exactly the environment Amber had been looking for.

The dark haired girl stood up from her seat then walked from the room. Amber figured she was going to the bathroom. Class was not yet over so she couldn’t be changing classes. Amber quickly got up and quietly began to follow her. She didn’t want the girl to notice her. Completely frustrated with the day, Amber just wanted to hide and get away.

The girl walked into the girl’s restroom on the north hall of the school. It seemed a little peculiar to her, why did she not just go to the one by their classroom? Amber didn’t let this change her mind. She needed to get away from this day. Amber waited on the other side of the bathroom door for a moment, taking a deep breath as softly pushed on the door, trying not to make any sudden noises. She knew that she

wasn’t supposed to be doing this, but she couldn’t take it anymore. Her parents wouldn’t find out, she’d never been caught before. She’d always taken safe precautions. She entered the girl’s bathroom.

Once inside the bathroom, she could see the black stall doors. No one else seemed to be in the bathroom but her and the girl. This would be the perfect time. She could see the dark haired girl’s shadow lingering out of the stall and Amber knew it was now or never. She stepped into the shadow on the floor and disappeared.

The school bell rang, indicating it was time to go home. The students walked out of the school in a crowd, some getting into cars and others onto big yellow buses that were parked in front of the school in a nice long line. The students loaded into the buses. The engines cut on one by one, the bus in the front of the line began to move forward. Three children run beside it. The long dark haired girl in the front with two boys trailing behind her, were all yelling for the bus to stop. They all looked to be teenagers.

The bus driver finally noticed the children in pursuit and came to a complete stop, allowing the three youths to board. With heavy breaths the three kids ascended the bus steps, greeting the bus driver before looking for an empty seat. The bus was full from front to back. Finally the boy behind the girl said, There are two seats empty in the very back of the bus.

The girl then proceeded to the back of the bus with the boys following her, the dark haired girl with deep blue eyes, sat down on the right of the bus. The boys sat in the seat directly across from her. The boy with dark sandy blond hair turned and spoke in a breathless tone, That was close.

The dark haired boy with dark blue eyes, and dark skin, said to his older brother beside him, Yes, It sure was. We nearly missed the bus.

The girl with long dark curly hair looked over to her brothers who were sitting beside her in the next seat, then asked in a worried tone, Jeremiah, have you seen Amber?

The tall slender boy with sandy blond hair answered, No, Hope, I haven’t seen her at all today. She is probably hiding like always. The taunting has been worse this week, more than usual.

Hope looked bewildered, asking the dark haired boy that looked about 14 years old, Robert, Have you seen her today?

Robert answered, Yes, I saw her just before lunch.

Did you talk to her when you saw her? Hope asked, trying to find a clue to where Amber was. Robert replied, No, but she looked really sad. She probably did like Jeremiah said. She’s hiding like always.

Hope then broke in and said, She knows better than to do that. We have to be careful.

Jeremiah announced with a hint of aggravation in his voice, You know she has always been careful when she hides. She won’t be seen.

Hope began to argue her case, Yes, she’s always been careful, but that doesn’t change the fact that Mom and Dad warned us not to. Second of all, secrets always come out.

Robert interrupted with a defensive reply, Well, we all know Amber is careful.

Hope retaliated with a cool tone, If Amber is not on this bus, Mom and Dad will be angry. That will be her problem, not mine. I’ve told her not to be doing this.

Jeremiah said in an unbiased tone as he spoke directly to Robert and Hope, She will show up, she always does. Don’t worry about her.

While the young teens sat with sulking looks upon their faces, the empty seat beside Hope was filled with a dark shadow. In an instant, Amber’s figure appeared and she said, Did I hear my name? Hope nearly jumped out of her seat. Don’t do that. Don’t sneak up on me.

Amber replied with a big smile on her face, I did not mean to startle you, sis.

Jeremiah chuckled out loud, See there, she’s here now. No worries, except the funny look on Robert’s face.

Hope giggled with relief, Yes, I see her. Jeremiah you were just as shocked as Robert.

Robert laughed, And you, Hope, you nearly fell out of the seat.

Amber spoke up in an enthused way, I really am sorry, I did not mean to startle any of you, but I have to say, the looks on all your faces were pretty amusing if you ask me.

Jeremiah breathed hard, Next time give us a warning or a hint of your arrival.

Amber laughed, Okay, I will announce myself next time.

Robert replied in a cool laugh, Yes, please do. Caught up in the laughter and the shock of it all, they didn’t notice the attention they’d brought to themselves. Jeremiah looked up, noticing that several students on the bus had turned to examine all the noise. Hey guys, we must be a little quieter. Look we’ve drawn attention to ourselves.

Hope looked at the watching children, and with a stern tone asked, What are you looking at? Take a picture it will last longer!

The watchful children quickly turned to face the front of the bus. They didn’t want to have to deal with her. Hope told her siblings, We must wait till we get off this bus before we say any more.

Jeremiah and Robert nodded their heads in agreement, silently began to talk to each other. Hope turned to Amber and said in a dry tone, You know better!

Amber just looked at Hope with a ‘not again’ look on her face. The rest of the bus ride home, the girl’s didn’t speak a word to each other. Finally the bus came to a complete stop and Jeremiah and Robert got up and made their way down the bus isle. Hope stood and Amber followed her. After they were at a safe distance from the bus, the air break released with a swooshing sound and the bus was off.

They each quietly walked up the long paved drive way. The trees covered both sides of the road so nothing beyond was visible. The road to their home was covered by trees, which gave it the appearance that they were walking through a tunnel. It seemed as if they had walked a mile before the sunshine hit their faces. The forest opened

up to a bright green field.

Beautiful statues decorated the yard, flowerbeds were everywhere. The colors of spring danced all around, making the ground look like a piece of heaven.

The four siblings stepped off the driveway and began to walk on a handsome path. Hope and Amber were twins, but not identical. They had just turned 15. Hope was walking in the front of them all. Amber followed directly behind her. Oddly enough to have one set of twins in a family, but this family had another set of twins; Jeremiah and Robert, 14, were also twins, and also not identical, but they all thought about the same things. They followed behind their twin sisters toward the castle.

The castle was so big and magnificent; it looked like something out of a storybook. In perfect condition, you could see every detailed ancient engraving and carvings along the deep gray stone. It had four towers that hinged to the castles foundations. They were so tall that they looked like they touched the puffy white clouds in the sky. Hope entered the big black iron door first, the rest followed her inside. The interior would almost put the outside appearance to shame. It had big windows that towered about 10 feet tall, the roof itself was about 20 foot high, with a spiraling staircase at the end of the long hall.

Chandeliers hung above them, and beautiful family pictures, decorated the walls. They walked down the long hallway and arrived at the foot of the staircase. Neither of them spoke a word as they proceeded up the winding staircase. After about four floors, they came to a room that had four hallways. They looked at one another in silence. Amber was the first to break the stillness lingering between them, I’m going to my room to do my homework. I’ll see you all at dinner.

Jeremiah agreed, I’m to. Talk to you later. Robert said, Me to, until Dinner.

Hope was the last to reply, Yeah, Talk to you all later.

They each split up and walked down a hall all of their very own.

    13

Then each one came to a door that was made of heavy thick wood, opening the doors, they headed up the stone stairs that lined the wall. It was if they were climbing the inside of a tall cylinder. Yet again they all stood in front of a door, they opened it and walked inside their rooms. Each one of them had begged their parents for one of the towers. They wanted their own little place. Their parents finally gave in, allowing them to stay in the towers, making them their own rooms. With each of their own personal touches they created a room unique to fit their personalities. Each of them sat down at their desks, thinking about the secret they had to keep hidden.

    Secrets

Amber had finally finished her homework. She put her books away then sat on her bed until dinnertime. She was so tired of the same old routine. Lying back on her baby soft pink comforter she sighed, Will I ever have a true friend?

A knock on the door brought Amber back to awareness. With a soft voice she said to the person on the other side of the door, Come in.

Hope, Jeremiah and Robert walked into the room. How are you feeling? Jeremiah asked her in a concerned tone.

Good as I can be, I guess. Why do you ask? Amber replied.

Well, we were wondering why you hid today? Hope questioned.

Amber quietly stared off for moment, thinking on the question. Her eyes fogging from the tears she was holding back. With a soft sad whisper she answered, It was because of Jennifer.

What? Jennifer? Is she not your friend? Hope looked bewildered. That’s what I thought. Until she stomped up to me today and told me she didn’t want to be my friend any more. I asked her why, but she never gave me an answer. Amber said while trying not to cry.

That is bull! Robert angrily spoke. No real friend would act that way.

Jeremiah agreed, "Robert is right, someone who is a real friend

    17

    TABITHA R. PIKE

wouldn’t do that to a person. What happened after you ask her why?"

Amber tried to compose herself, Well, after she didn’t give me an answer, she turned and walked over to Ashley. The girl I’d fought about a week ago. I overheard her telling her that she wanted to be friends. She went as far as telling her that I was crazy.

I ought to go and show this girl crazy! Hope blurted out as she smacked her fist in her other open hand, causing a loud sound.

I wish I was a girl just for a moment. I would teach her a lesson. Robert added with his fist balled up in the air.

"We must all just calm down. Let us
