About this ebook

This is a collection of poems over the years of my life from first writing poetry in 2007 to today. I have never really landed on a style, theme, or purpose in my writing, it fits more to my ADHD and dyslexic way of thinking. This collection is at times irreverent, heartfelt, random, and reflective. It is a catalog of different moments and places in my life and I hope it allows anyone that reads it to both enjoy the poems and hopefully find what all writers hope for, a connection.

Navigating the Stars at Noon - Peter M. Cardamone

    Introduction

    Hi.

    Baltimore Bound

    My self-deprecating city,

    who glorifies guns and gangs,

    rats and bee-hive hair hats.

The only shows of this home

    are cautionary stay-away exposés.

Our famous sons and daughters have split,

    except for John Waters.

This is where his muse meanders and licks its lips,

but there is left some special charm beyond its name.

It is a hub of Hons who haunt the Hampden streets,

a bedlam of blue jay bros taunting the brightest geeks,

a medical Mecca that underwhelms the monetary man,

as transitional as the trans uptown:

this is the path if you are Baltimore bound.

And when you stop to catch your breath on the federal steps,

you will be able to see the subtly serene skyline

and at that moment so sublime you forget

that just down below is where the homeless sit.

So like the city citizen you have come to be,

you walk right over and wave goodbye

and follow the sound of the siren beat,

sure to avoid the constant street trash heap,

    past the mayor kicking her fallen crown;

you now know you are Baltimore-bound.

The Tree That I touched inappropriately

On my way home I walked into a tree.

Usually, this is not too bad,

but it slapped me like I touched it inappropriately.

Always the gentleman, I looked to see where I was
