"D on't move ." His voice was punctuated as he turned and stomped out of the room. The door clicked loudly behind him, muffling the noise from the party.

Apparently we're going to pay for stopping the invaders, Adaire mumbled, turning away. You weren't even supposed to be there—you could have been killed.

"I was there because of you, Jubilee snapped back. How was I supposed to know your elven rebels would be there?"

"Oh, well, excuse me, Mistress, for not controlling the community I lost control over. His eyes snap at her as he continued snarkily. Forgive me, Mistress Claus."

The elven prince bowed deeply, blond bangs flipping in front of his eyes. His sword moved at his side just enough to pick up the light and refract it back at Jubilee.

Don't call me Mistress, Jubilee corrected angrily. Though the elven prince was in fact supposed to address her as such in public, locked away in her father's workshop office, he knew better than to speak to her so formally.

You couldn't have just stayed at the celebration? He rose, giving up his cold tone. Adaire quietly walked over to her and perched on the edge of the table at her side.
