When I Stack That Paper - Ayabulela Daweti

    ALL ABOUT PAPER

Do you ever get tired to be looked down upon? Watching people accomplishing their dreams, and you are just there trying. All your efforts don’t seem to work out into something tangible. Something that you can be proud of and say it came out of yourself.

As a kid coming down the pipelines in the Mucus City, I always knew I had to look out for myself. Most of my friends didn’t even make it in life. We were all trying to make a living just like everyone who is out there living the best life.

Most people in Mucus City end up with just regular jobs and as a kid witnessing that I had to quit going to school. Not that I didn’t want to go to school. I mean I loved school. But I just had something in me which kept on pushing me to hustle. I hustle to be financially free. What is the point of going to school if you are going to end up being a nobody? Well that is what is happening most of the time. It’s either you win a lotto, or you are going sell drugs.

After I lost my mother, I had to step up my game and look after myself. I went on to look for a job and I got lucky in a club. I was making coffee for Mr Thaiwand but as the time went on, he sold the club to Kredo. Luckily again Kredo allowed me to stay and keep on working there and I became like family to Kredo. He treated me nicely, he was always working and busy all the time.

Back in high school I had friends in the first grade, but both later were transferred to a home because they didn’t have parents. One day I saw them entering the club with Kredo. Mr Kredo told me about them, but he didn’t know that I knew them back from high school.

Slippy and Jack were their names but that goes way back. Slippy comes from Slippery and Jack comes from the word Jackal. I saw how they are hard working for Mr Kredo and they seem to be good at the job that they were doing. But take it from me that crime is no good because most of my friends died others are in jail.

Somehow Slippy and Jack stopped working for Kredo because they wanted their own empire. But they retired on good terms with Kredo.

When I stack that paper, everything is just going to change, we can finally help people who are in need and try to push them to do better in life Those were words from Jack while he was talking to Slippy.

Slippy couldn’t wait any longer as he was in a hurry, he wanted to
