    Chapter Separator

    There is a realm that serves as a bridge between the natural and supernatural. In this place, major life changes can be instituted or canceled. Friends may appear as enemies and family may not behave in a very loving manner.

    This is a place that you must attend at least once daily. You may leave this place refreshed, enriched, energized and empowered or drained, confused, cursed, and frustrated.

    This place is your sleep and the realm is the realm of dreams. There are plenty of books and on dream interpretation. Unfortunately, Western churches have been somewhat silent about dream warfare. The gaps in this knowledge are causing frustrated saints to search online and other places for this knowledge. Can you do anything about a bad dream? Should you do anything about a bad dream? What about prayer, does prayer affect dreams?

    Dreams, like reality, can be affected by prayer and prophetic action. The Bible details people who acted on their dream for better or for worse. We will discuss these people throughout this book, but the important thing to know is that they were able to change the outcome of the subject of their dreams. In some cases, we can change our dreams altogether by prayer.

    Dreams are defined as "patterns of sensory information that occur when the brain is in a resting state – as in asleep. It is generally assumed that dreams only occur during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep – this is when the brain appears to be in an active state but the individual is asleep and in a state of paralysis. But studies have shown that they can also happen outside of REM. (Ellis, 2020)

    This sounds very scientific. You would think that scientists would give a two-paragraph explanation explaining the reason why we dream. Surprisingly experts have had to admit that they don’t know for sure why people dream. Scientists can define what dreams accomplish physically but the reason we dream is cloudy to them.

    This is not shocking. Dreams were a part of a divine intelligent design put in place by our creator, to introduce us to a realm that is not overseen by man. In the best case, dreams are a line of communication from God that detail future steps or indicate a future mandate. In a perfect world they will be clear and leave the dreamer invigorated and mentally empowered to accomplish the assignment given by God, or in the case of Joseph the father of Jesus, flee for safety. God designed dreams to be a telephone line to heaven.

    Unfortunately, the fall of man introduced the fallen state to dreams. Instead of being a primary medium for divine messaging, it is now an open field for spirits. These spirits may have various agendas. They know that you are less able to resist their influence in your sleep, and in the case of demons, will capitalize on your weakened state. Spirits search for something in you from their kingdom and manipulate that thing to create an entry point into your life. The dream is simply a manifestation of what is already there. So what are these kingdoms, you ask? Before we go into the three kingdoms, let’s define the term kingdom.

    Dictionary.com defines the word kingdom as:

    1. anything conceived as constituting a realm or sphere of independent action or control: the kingdom of thought

    2. The spiritual sovereignty of God or Christ. The domain over which the spiritual sovereignty of God or Christ extends, whether in heaven or on earth."

    To this end, we understand that whatever Kingdom we are yielded to, or receive input from, will find expression in our dreams.

    The Kingdom of Heaven- The ideal source of any type of dream is the Kingdom of God. You want the spiritual sovereignty of God or Christ to extend into your dreams. Abraham had this experience in the book of Genesis 15:12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. What was the effect of this deep sleep?

    Genesis 15:14-18 "And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

    And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward, shall they come out with great substance.

    And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

    But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

    And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.

    In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river,
