Cyrus the Great: The Conqueror Who Founded the First Persian Empire
()
About this ebook
The Greeks called him Cyrus, the Elder, due to his magnanimous efforts to bring the Middle East together and establish a solid administration and bureaucracy. To this day, he still inspires us thanks to his tolerance and eloquent ruling. He was a pioneer of human rights and laid out rules that spearheaded freedom and equality.
Cyrus was recognized as a polytheist who favored worshipping many gods at a time. He turned from one god to another, according to his agenda and circumstances. He prayed to a god who could fulfill his desire and lead him to victory, which was noted during his rule in Babylonia. The former Babylonian ruler did not allow his people to worship their god and imposed hard labor, making life unbearable for thousands, but when Cyrus overtook the throne, he allowed Babylonia's people to follow their religion and worship their god, which increased their trust and admiration in Cyrus.

Introduction
Also commonly known as Kourosh
or Cyrus II of Persia, Cyrus the Great was one of the most favored rulers and the King of Persia. He was extremely tolerant and possessed an exemplary attitude towards others. From the Indian Subcontinent to the Mediterranean Sea, Cyrus the Great ruled over a vast empire, perhaps the largest in the world at the time. He founded the Persian Empire, which fell under the Achaemenid Dynasty.
Cyrus II was known to have seized a major chunk of the globe and ruled over a large empire. He began his conquest by capturing the Median empire and gaining the trust of the Medes. After doubling the strength of his army, he conquered the Lydian Empire, which is now the western half of the Turkish Peninsula. Once he successfully captured this kingdom, he set his sights on Babylonia or modern-day Iraq. With the help of his advisors, representatives, and new subjects, Cyrus successfully captured the Neo-Babylonian Empire in 539 BC. His desire to conquer further grew, which motivated him to lead an expedition in Central Asia, where he hoped to seize more lands.
He was the leader of multiple campaigns that were described as bringing into subjection every nation without exception.
His expedition was limited to this region and did not stretch up to Egypt, but Cambyses II, his son and successor to the throne conquered Egypt, Cyrenaica, and Nubia during his reign, which was later added
