KINGS AND QUEENS OF PERSIA

DARIUS I

PERSIAN 550 BCE - 486 BCE

Although he is primarily remembered for the first invasion of Greece (which ultimately ended in failure) there were many other aspects to his rule. It was under Darius that Achaemenid coinage was introduced, a vast number of construction projects were implemented (in Persepolis, Egypt, Susa and Babylon, among others) and Amic became the official language of the empire.
