Angelic Dept. of Youth Protection: The Battle Against the Bully

    Angelic Dept. of Youth Protection:

    The Battle Against the Bully

    By B.K.Ford

This book is dedicated to my wife Renay, daughter Bryanna, son Ezekiel, daughter Jakin and to Samanta Gilbert, Marquis Jamerson and the entire cast of The Litemares short film.

    Special thanks to my editors:

    Julie Jamerson, M.Ed, & Renay Ford, Ed.D,

    Chapter 1 - Patience

This is ridiculous! Agent Powers shouts while pacing back and forth in front of the surveillance monitor. There has got to be something we can do now! he insisted.

Just as his impatience reaches its pinnacle, Agent Ariel Thrones, his partner enters the room and attempts to encourage him.

Be patient, we’ll be able to help soon, she said. I know this can be a little difficult to watch, but our chance to act is coming

The two rookie partners of the Angelic Department of Youth Protection are eagerly awaiting their first assignment.

This is your third attempt today to get me to see this situation from the bright side and there is no bright side, I refuted.

And I wouldn’t expect anything less of her. That’s Agent Ariel Thrones for you. She’s my friend and partner here at the ADYP. Agent Thrones is always optimistic, looking at the glass as half full instead of half empty. Her hearts in the right place too, she’ll always wait for the proper clearance and follow protocol every time. Conversely, I prefer to act whether I have clearance or not. Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Agent Orion Powers. I’m not as reserved as my partner, but just as dedicated. She goes by the book and I sometimes ignore book, if I believe it will hold up progress. We’re opposites, but that is what makes us a great team.

We are angelic special agents, similar to heaven’s version of earth’s secret service, or Federal Bureau of Investigation. Our headquarters is located in the third Heaven on Cloud Nine Street. Our mission is pretty cut and dry, protect and serve the youth of God’s children. The problem is that recently all we have been doing is observing and documenting their actions. We haven’t actually seen much action.

You know we have to wait until someone intercedes on behalf of this child, Thrones interjects. Yeah, that’s right; we actually have to wait until someone prays for these kids, in order to intervene. We have to receive an official petition order. And that’s where we are today; waiting for someone to notice that this particular kid we’ve been monitoring has been bullied every day for a week now. It appears that nobody cares, but that’s just my opinion. From our observation, the reason for the bullying centers on his fancy new footwear. For some reason, $150 sneakers fascinate these kids and cause them to do some strange things to acquire them. They seem to take advantage of every chance to torture each other for the social status quo sake.

Orion, I know this is hard to watch, but I’m sure someone will start praying for James any minute now, repeated Thrones. There is nothing we can do, except wait and follow the protocol.

Protocol is not helping us to serve and protect this kid. I replied. That’s what we should be doing, not just watching. I’m leaving. I can’t just sit here anymore, for me this is not a spectator sport!

Where are you going? inquired Thrones.

"I’m taking an early lunch break. I’m in the
