Chapter 1
In 2010, 16 year old Phil Barnard was struck by lightning when crossing a bridge in Lyme Regis. He experienced a time continuum interface with 1910 and he exchanged a single day’s memory with his ancestor Philip Barnard an apprentice boat builder.
The family decided to keep their knowledge a secret for a while to be passed on only to direct descendants. Phil and his girlfriend Sandra married and their daughter Andrea became a physicist. They did not channel her into science. It just seemed to happen that way. By 2060 after 50 years many changes had taken place. Andrea had met a fellow physicist Terrence Trendle at London University and they had worked together on the new Drahon Particle Collider in Berkshire which had followed on the work from the Hadron Accelerator in Switzerland.
In 2080 they discovered the Titron Beam which gave off energy ten times greater than a nuclear reaction with no adverse effects and in 2085 they were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics. They were aware of the family tradition of time exchange and when their son David showed an interest in Temporal Physics they combined their new found energy source with the possibility of controlling the Lyme Temporal Portal which Philip and Phil had stumbled upon at the bridge.
The question to be answered was whether the temporal link only happened when the time/month/year numbers were aligned or if the portal could work at any time if a large enough power source was available. Over the years the family had bought all the land around the bridge
