    It was July and a month had passed since Julie and Emma had returned home to Bromley. It had happen very slowly but Thomas realised he needed to change his life. His fiftieth birthday was on the 16th and that day several occurrences happened which were to change his life from the recluse who young Emma had sprinkled pixie dust upon and prized out of his shell to a man aware of his surroundings. Thomas had become good friends with Bill the postman and every Friday Bill would stop for a cup of coffee. Normally he would only have junk mail and holiday brochures but this day there was a postcard in neat handwriting. It was addressed to Mr Thomas, Watermill Cottage, Chyme, Hampshire. On one side was a picture of a black and white cat. On the reverse was written:

    Thank you for letting me play with Dimple and feed the chickens. It made a fun holiday. Maybe we will                                                                                                       Come and see you again.

    Love  Emma

    Thomas passed the card to Bill who read it in silence. That girl could charm the birds out of the trees said Bill.

    I reckon she probably could at that. Thomas replied. They sat quietly in the sunshine when Bill remembered what he was going to mention.

    There is a TV programme you might wish to see at 9.00 o’clock tonight on BBC4.

    I don’t watch much TV.

    I know that but this could be interesting. They are restoring an old windmill in Norfolk.

    A windmill you say. I must admit that does sound interesting. I will give it a go.

    Thomas spent the afternoon in his garden. As evening approached he fed his cat Dimple and gave the chickens their second feed of the day before they settled down for the night. At 9 pm He turned on his TV and sat down with a mug of hot chocolate and a couple of jaffa cakes. The programme was about a couple in Norfolk who
