The Peace Warrior - Dena Eakles

    PART I

    wake up child

    Song To Myself

    Wake up child.

    It’s time to get up.

    You’ve been dreamin’,

    Sometimes hollerin’ in your sleep.

What sad song you singin’ to yourself?

    Don’t you know it’s springtime,

And the sun is gettin’ warmer every day?

    Wake up child.

The One you love is here.

    Closer than you know.

Always think the grass is greener.

Go runnin’ round tryin’ to get satisfied.

You gotta take Life as it comes.

You gotta take Life as it comes.

Let me hold you darlin’ .

I will rock you in my arms.

I know what you are missin’

You try to be a big kid.

Try to stand all on your own.

But you are just a child,

    Too much for you alone.

She is curious that I have gone back to the time of my Grandmother, but concedes I am happy.

I did not flee the city. This is not a survival camp. The foundation of this place is appreciation and respect for all that is living, and those who live here celebrate the choice of living consciously.

The reawakening of my childhood dream to live on a farm came during my pursuit to understand the root of healing. During my travels in search of people who could teach me, the earth and our interconnectedness became evident and my need to be on the land no longer possible to
