Case 9 – To Kill More Flies
He went that way!
A young man pressed his large frame against the side of a nearby building. Ducking down, he stretched his hands across the rough stone surface. The bid for freedom had been too good to ignore. Now he regretted his decision. To stay out of prison he had to stay ahead of the police. In a contained area that wasn’t easy.
Quick, go down that way.
Sliding across the wall, he lowered himself into the alleyway. There were few places that he could take shelter within. All that he could hope for was to find some place safe to hide inside indefinitely. For that he would need help. With his blue eyes searching for an escape route, the young man wove through the narrow passage.
What are you doing? You can’t miss the man. He’s huge!
Fighting back a chuckle, the young man dropped his hulking frame down to the ground. On his belly he pulled his pale frame through the sand that covered the city streets. With a lower profile he managed to evade his pursuers.
Of the four quadrants in Central City, the part he was in was the desert of South Side. The pure sand was to the southeast. That was where the prison he escaped from was located. To keep the offenders away from the populace the prison was put into the underground.
The young man pulled himself to a junk pile. There wasn’t much in his size, but he found a pair of brown jeans. Tearing the tattered fabric at the knees, he pulled them on in place of his prison uniform. In his new clothes he scrambled through discarded boxes, crates, and bags. The only place he knew to go for help was home.
To the northwest in the heart of Central City, Kirabo stared at the file of the escaped prisoner. He was seated in the lounge towards the front of his and his brothers’ penthouse suite. Barely glancing at the elevator as his older brother exited, the second born son read aloud, Minotaur… He got into some nasty fights. With a name like that it’s not surprising. I wonder…
Shaking his head, Kirabo
