    Den, mediocre in his own mind, yet an affirmed great thinker; at least by his standards.  He stood 5’10 and barely gangly in stature.  He was a pessimistic optimist and if you think they cancel each other out, you are neither right nor wrong.  Den was good hearted by nature yet as explosive as a lobbed hand-grenade.  He had spent twenty five of his thirty years speculating why" to nearly every event he had witnessed.  He functioned as an ordinary person for the most part.  The difference is, he was nearly convinced he was indeed completely different from everyone else.  To make matters worse, he was in partial denial that he even thought that way.  Den had finally realized, throughout the years, that he was just like everyone else with the exception of overthinking everything; at least that is how he conformed himself.

    Cloudy and overcast; a fitting day, a fitting mood.  This is a typical analogy for Den.  He shrugged his shoulders in indifference as he thought of ways to judge his surroundings as indiscriminate as possible.  In a sense, nothing was everything and vice-versa.  To be more specific, there was more to absolute zero than a feeble measurement and that everything could be minimalized from great worth to lack of any value.  Den turned away from the window and sat at his desk.  He felt a tension headache coming on as he swiveled in his chair slowly left, then right.  He was stressed and the only thing that seemed to help was the thunder mildly growling outside.  Why today?! he thought to himself.  Damn him! he whispered under his breath.  Den looked up at the ceiling as he tried to clear his mind.

    Closing one eye, he focuses on the swirl pattern on the ceiling.  Then he closed the
