    "Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have

    received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced

    the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in

    craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully;

    but by manifestation of the truth commending

    ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of

    God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that

    are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded

    the minds of them which believe not, lest the light

    of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of

    God, should shine unto them. For we preach not

    ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves

    your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who commanded

    the light to shine out of darkness, hath

    shined in our hearts, to give the light of the

    knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."

    Preface

    THERE IS NO QUESTION that the Bible makes the evangelization of the lost the duty and privilege of believers. Just as the truths of the Bible don’t change from age to age, the responsibility that is ours to take the Gospel to a world without Christ and without hope doesn’t change. The zeal with which we should see our task shouldn’t change either. But as times change, methods and techniques will change as well. Such changes are driven by technology, locale, and often by society’s world view. Clearly, the message of Christ never changes, but how we communicate that message in the 21st Century will be markedly different than how it was communicated even 20-25 years ago.

    As Pastor of Outreach and Visitation at Faith Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL, Dave Cotner has been a diligent student of methods and patterns of communicating the Gospel effectively. This book specifically deals with 21st Century Evangelism, the how of our task and privilege of telling the world of Jesus Christ. Again, it doesn’t change the message, nor does it water down that message. In fact, much of what has passed as personal evangelism in the past 25-50 years has reduced the Gospel to following of a set formula with the hope of having the hearer pray a set prayer. Far to often, the hope is in the pattern and prayer rather than in the Savior. This book is focused on making us effective in the presentation of the Gospel and bringing people to a saving knowledge of Christ. May it be a help and encouragement in your life as your seek to reach your Jerusalem.
