About this ebook

The city of Sodom had not only become the hub of variety of activities but a rendezvous for perpetrators of all forms of vice. The crime and vice must have been fuelled by economic pressures among other factors. Although the economy of Sodom was thriving, many young people could have been living in abject poverty. Many unemployed young people killed their time by beer drinking and loitering - as a result they got hooked to a number of sexual mores. Beautiful young women signed up with rich businessmen who hired them out for escort services to wealthy visitors. The city adult book and video stores, the one night (fornicatory) stands and porn shops were teeming with wicked men of Sodom. This book addresses current hot potatoes like homosexuality, lesbianism, revisionist gay theology, the occult, music television and its impact, premarital/non-marital sex and materialism through looking glasses of Lot's story. It focuses on a redemptive ministry approach to these issues.

    Introduction

The world is rapidly changing. The social pillars that used to protect our youths have been razed to the ground. Their place has been taken by those that dissuade youths from the right pathway.

The home as a social pillar has lost its grip on children. Young people would rather conform to the standards of their peers than follow the narrow regulations of their parents.

The church has gone into spiritual oblivion. It has lowered the standard to suit the demands of the world. We have come to a resurgence of the Dark Ages for Christendom. What used to be scriptural proscription is explained away by postmodern philosophies.

Theological institutions are now treating the Bible as any other book that is subject to human interpretation. The emergence of Revisionist Gay Theology has made the life of Sodom to be acceptable to the church and the world.

In the secular world there is pressure to uphold human rights that are in antagonism with the Holy Word. Many governments of the world have passed laws that not only shock us but distress us. Sodom has truly bounced back.

Homosexuality, witchcraft, bestiality, premarital sex and non-marital sex, materialism are not only fashionable but acceptable. Lot’s story comes to us as a warning to flee youthful lusts.

In this book, these contemporary challenges are examined. Redemptive ministry is what is needed to solve many problems that young Christians face today.

    Chapter One  -   Crossroads  Embroilment

God always gives His best to those who leave the choice with Him - Jim Elliot

Sombre and sepulchral exchange of words, a growing tension and bad blood tainted their good relationship. For quite some time their worship experience was upsettingly dull. It was characterised by a dirge of rumpled expectations and entombed affections. The promised prospect seemed to be giving birth to anarchy and resentment.

Workers who used to have a barrel of laughs were now teed off. Time and again they burst in an uproar and fought with each other over pastures. It was from such a distasteful spring of covetousness that the contaminated waters sprung into a river of animosity which overflew its banks locking uncle and nephew in a mental logjam. The long band of patience that was pulled to its elastic limit was about to be fissured. They were now muddled at the crossroads.

Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we [be] brethren (Gen 13:8). He broke the tensed up situation by offering Lot a choice. Separate thyself, I pray thee, from me, he entreated, If [thou wilt take] the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if [thou depart] to the right hand, then I will go to the left (Gen 13:9). This was Lot’s momentous opportunity to get the best. His whole life hinged on the choice he would make at this time. Up to this
