About this ebook

As we are getting closer to the end of this world, certain biblical truths, which were not revealed to our fathers and forefathers, are going to be made known to us. For the Bible tells us that knowledge shall increase in the last days (Daniel 12:4). One of these is the truth about hell and hellfire.
Hellfire is not a literal fire as some people think, but rather the state where souls will yearn for the Word of God and will not have him. Their souls will be burning for the Word of God, whom they cannot have. They will thirst for the living water, which is no longer available to them. They had the opportunity to drink from the fountain of life flowing with the living water, but they did not make use of that opportunity. Their souls will be restless and uncomfortable for eternity. Souls who do not accept the Lord Jesus Christ, who came to die for the sin of men in order to bring us back to the Father, will be burning for the Word of God, thirsty for the living water, but it will be too late because they have been cut off from the presence of God forever.
This is the truth about hell and hellfire.

Emmanuel Kwadwo Adarkwah

Emmanuel Kwadwo Adarkwah is a Ghanaian. He is a graduate from the University of Ghana, completing his undergraduate course in biochemistry in 2006. Although a prophet of God, he has been working as an Oracle database administrator for almost three years now. He plans moving into a full-time evangelistic ministry soon. According to him, this was the reason he was born into this world: to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. He does not want the Lord to ask him one day, “What did you use the talent I gave you for?” and he will not have an answer for Him. His mission is to speak the Word of God and spread the Word of God. God called him in 2002 during his first year at the university. However, like Jonah in the Bible, he refused to obey God and decided to do his own thing. He went through many frustrations on campus because of his refusal to respond to the call of God. It was after completion of his undergraduate course that God told him He had anointed him as His prophet to the nations. He also told him He allowed him to go through those frustrations so that he would appreciate that He was God and still is. He has come to know God and some of His ways and he personally believes there is no other God apart from God Almighty and our Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to Him. God has revealed some hidden truths in the Bible, some of which he is sharing with all in his book, ‘HELL FIRE NOT A LITERAL FIRE’. The revelation of hell and hellfire was given to him at a watch-night service while praying.

    INTRODUCTION

The issue of whether hell exist or not and the location of hell has never crossed my mind because I was made to believe from childhood that there is a place called hell beneath the earth where souls of sinners will be after the first death.

²⁷And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, (Hebrews 9:27)

Probably, if I had thought about it, I would have asked the same questions as being asked by many people who wants to find out the truth about hell. Our Lord Jesus Christ said,

32And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:32)

    Does Hell really exist?

    Where is Hell?

What is the location of Hell?

Are the souls of sinners going to be burnt with literal fire?

These are but a few questions bothering the minds of lot of believers who wish to know the truth about hell and hell fire.

Hell and hell fire are topics in the Bible, which many believers have misconstrued. There is no doubt in the minds of Christians hell exist, so I will not delve into that.

This is because the Lord Jesus Christ whom we follow confirmed the reality of hell and made mention of it several times in the Bible.

However, we have been made to believe that there is a geographical place called hell where sinners will find themselves after death and they will be tormented day and night with an unquenchable literal fire.

Those with this believe argue that hell is in the crust of the earth by backing their argument with Matthew 12:40 and Ephesians 4:9.

    Jesus Christ said,

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly: so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the HEART OF THE EARTH. (Matthew 12:40)

Paul in his message to the Ephesians also said,

Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the LOWER PARTS OF THE EARTH. (Ephesians 4:9)

In addition, those of the view that souls of sinners are going to be tormented in hell with literal fire also quote the following scriptures to back their viewpoint.

42And will cast them into the FURNACE OF FIRE. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 13:42)

41Depart from Me, you cursed, into the EVERLASTING FIRE prepared for the devil and his angels : ( Matthew 25:41)

"43If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, TO GO TO HELL, INTO THE FIRE THAT SHALL NEVER BE QUENCHED—⁴⁴where ‘THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.’⁴⁵ And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, TO BE CAST INTO HELL, INTO THE FIRE THAT SHALL NEVER BE QUENCHED—⁴⁶WHERE ‘THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.’

⁴⁷And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, TO BE CAST INTO HELL FIRE— ⁴⁸WHERE ‘THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.’" (Mark 9:43-48)

24Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; FOR I AM TORMENTED IN THIS FLAME.’ (Luke 16:24)

15And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the LAKE OF FIRE. (Revelation 20:15)

Even if you have not read the above quoted scriptures before, after going through them, what is your say on the description of hell?

Are these descriptions of hell metaphorical or exactly as a layman understands?

Are they exactly what we have been made to believe all these years we came to know Christ?

Is there a place called hell?

Are sinners truly going to be tormented day and night with a literal fire forever?

    The questions go on.

According to Bible theologians, the word hell is used 54 times in the old King James Version of the Bible and it is translated from several different words with various meaning.

It appears 31 times in the Old Testament from the Hebrew word Sheol meaning the grave

In the New Testament, 10 times from the Greek word Hades meaning the grave,12 times from the Greek word Gehenna meaning a place of burning and once from the the Greek word Tartarus meaning a place of darkness

However, whether these words used to describe hell are really, what hell is or they were used figuratively will gradually be unfolded by the Lord to His chosen vessels as the Bible tells us knowledge will abound in the last days.

"4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal
