    The Process

Lola loved being with Richie. He was rich, well-dressed, and had a lot of powerful friends. He also had high social status, and she loved all the opportunities his connections provided. She loved bragging about him, knowing her friends were a little envious. She ate at the best restaurants, took exotic vacations, and shopped at the most expensive stores without having to deal with poor people problems. Sometimes, in exchange for expensive experiences, she was expected to have sex; while sex was not explicitly discussed or negotiated beforehand, she knew if the vacations to Ibiza and Miami were to continue, then the men expected it. Fortunately, Lola was a decent judge of character (and also a little lucky) and was never physically forced to have sex without her consent while traveling with one of her sponsors.

During the fall semester of her sophomore year, Lola went out with a few girlfriends to a popular nightclub on 10th avenue. Richie approached her, said he was a promoter, asked for her contact information, and then offered some free drinks. Normally, she wouldn’t have been interested in speaking with him; he wasn’t overly attractive or charismatic, but he was hosting a table with bottles of alcohol, so she acted friendly, brought her friends along, and they drank for free at his
