There is a growing tide of concern in our society today, which is driven by many factors including rapid change, the global economic crisis, absence of job security, and the overall state of world affairs. People are longing for something more, for meaning, and for a sense of belonging. At the core of this is a deeply rooted need for true leadership. Not the command and control model of leadership that has contributed to our current state, but a more authentic and deliberate form of leadership that inspires purpose, engenders hope, and builds stronger community. The truth is that today’s rapid pace has produced an unparalleled opportunity for all people to expand their leadership influence regardless of role, job title, or function. Author George Hathaway not only understands this truth, but also provides a lifetime of leadership wisdom that inspires the readers to chart their own course to leadership excellence.

This book is chock full of practical, actionable advice that is sure to expand your influence and impact as a leader in every part of your life. I highly recommend Leadership Secrets For Everyone to anyone who wants to take their personal leadership style to the next level.

This book was originally titled Leadership Secrets from the Executive Office when it was first published in 2004. It far surpassed everyone’s expectations. The response from across the globe has been overwhelming.

By design, this book was written for supervisors, managers, and executives who have responsibility for the work that others do in the business world. But people in all walks of life, well beyond those in business management, have told me that they use the book to help them be better leaders, too.

For example, parents have used the book to provide better leadership to their children and coaches have used it to better guide their teams to perform well on the playing field. Teachers have found it helpful as they instruct their students and manage relationships with parents. Students, as well, have told me that they have learned the keys to success not only in the classroom, but also in life after school. Clergy, lawyers, doctors, accountants, and other professionals have all gained from the leadership practices documented in these pages.

So, everyone at one time or another plays an important leadership role. In the end, it’s is all about how we treat one another, how we communicate effectively, how we respect each other, and how
