Fort Zombie - Wise Tha Lycan

    Fort Zombie

We all know how these zombie stories go. You have a normal person living their life. Doing what they normally do. Thinking nothing special will happen to them. Next thing you know, the world becomes an apocalypse overnight.  They go from paying bills, to learning how to survive. This isn’t one of those stories. What can one man, a Marine, do to keep America alive? The story of a man called Sniper.

Oh My God, it’s so hot in here, Sniper whispers as he wakes in a cold sweat. He slides out of his bed, reaching for his glass of water on the night stand. The light from the clock pierces through the darkness like a dagger meeting its victim. He stands up and searches the wall for a switch. Once found, he turns the ceiling fan on. Immediately feeling the cool breeze, this brings a tranquil feeling to his skin.

The time on the clock is 6:25AM, and he rubs his eyes. Sniper turns on a lamp sitting on the night stand. The contents of the room are revealed in a dim light. Sniper turns the TV on as he looks at a picture of his girlfriend on the nightstand. As he prepares for his day, he over hears the news casters report about a new strain of flu. The new strain of flu has baffled the medical community. Increasing numbers have fallen ill, as physicians work steadily for a vaccine. Doctors predict that numbers will increase as the country heads into the fall season, says the new caster.

Sniper walks into the bathroom and turns on the sink. As he prepares for work, he thinks about his day. Though the report makes him feel cautious. He looks for his cell phone and texts his girlfriend. Wishing her a good morning and tells her to be safe. She immediately texts back ‘Same to you too baby. I love you."

As he moves his old sea bag and grabs his work bag. He feels an eerie feeling as he opens his door. Peering into the world with the morning light, a dead silence strikes him odd. Already warm, he grabs his keys and opens his car door. He rolls down his windows as he starts his car. Noticing that traffic is lighter than normal, wondering has the flu hit this area. Sniper heads towards the interstate by a local mall.

Suddenly, he seeing car after car lined up, and traffic at a standstill. He sits back and turns on the radio. Instead of music playing, an emergency announcement makes a statement, Due to the increasing number of flu victims. Patrons are advised to stay home during this epidemic. The government has issued a state of an emergency across the country,

A loud crash distracts Sniper from the radio. He steps out of his vehicle, as he sees smoke raising several cars ahead. A construction worker off to Sniper’s right, runs to see if he can help. People start emerging from their cars to see what is wrong. While Sniper leaves his car and walks over toward the sidewalk, hoping to get a better view. He finds that part of the side walk was being worked on. A huge hole kept him from seeing anything. People start running from the smoke area, all of them showing fear on their faces.

Screams filled the air, as more people started to run away. Sniper stands motionless, wondering who is causing this. The only thing he could see was people fighting other people. Though the way they were fighting, looked like a horror film. Some people were biting and scratching people. Small groups would crowd individuals, and blood would fill the air. Sniper runs to his car and searches for his gun in the glove compartment. Shaking his head, he remembers that he promised his girlfriend to keep his gun out of the car. He finds the next best thing, and pulls a leather sleeve that contains his Ka-bar. As he pulls the blade out, a person grabs him from behind. He can tell the person wasn’t friendly as the person growls at him. Upon him turning, Sniper drives the blade into the deformed persons’ temple. Instantly seeing the life leave the zombie, a second zombie comes and Sniper yanks the blade free. Twisting his wrist quickly, he stops the advance of the second zombie. Pinning the zombie between him, and the car next to them, the second zombie stops moving. Sniper pulls his Ka-bar free from its’ skull.

Sniper jumps on the hood of the car next to his. He sees more zombies making their way toward him. As he prepares to make an escape, he hears a hissing sound. Sniper sees a beat up pickup truck with propane tanks that are about to catch fire. He hopes off the hood of the car and dashes for the hole in the sidewalk. Before he can jump into the hole, he hears an explosion, and then feels a sharp pain in his left side. The tanks caused the truck to explode and the shockwave forces Sniper into the hole. He hits the bottom with a thud as more cars start to explode. Right before he blacks out. A car flips and covers most of the hole.

    7 Hours Later

The area was overrun by zombies within hours.  Most cars were damaged or burnt. A lot of blood stained vehicles and the ground. Most could hear explosions and the faint cries of the dead. Only a few bodies lay in isolated areas, showing no sides of life. One car was underside down covering a huge hole is the sidewalk.

Sniper finally wakes up, and peers up to notice a car missed him by two feet. He barely moves, and focuses on his hearing. Several sounds fill the air around him. He hears that few zombies are near him, and helicopters are flying back and forth. He then rolls to his right side, and starts checking his body. Finding that screw driver went through his left side. Grateful that the wound isn’t deep, all he needed was a first aid kit.

Finally the sun was in position to start the sunset hours. Sniper found an area to climb to get out of the hole. As the rays of the sun turned golden, he took a careful view of the area, and planned to move once the sun was gone. Fifteen of the undead came between Sniper and the front doors of the mall. He kept his focus on the front doors. The bleeding was slow, but would become a problem in time. As the rays of the sun began to fade, Sniper grips the Ka-bar and clutches his left side. Once the last sun rays faded over the whole, Sniper began to move.

To things kept running through Sniper’s mind. Remember sound and speed, move like your life depends on it. Who knew that in this case it did?

The journey to the mall wasn’t going to be simple. No one in their right mind would want to test their knowledge, compare to a real situation. From first looks, a zombies movements appear slow. As Sniper remembered the attack earlier, once food is noticed, the zombies fall under a blood thirsty rage. He picks up a pebble, and tosses it at a car. The pebbles’ sound causes three zombies to look in the direction. A zombie sniffing the air makes Sniper even more cautious. Gripping his side, he ducks past cars. The remaining four zombies were staggered toward the door. Sniper rest upon the last car, trying to think quickly before the others notice him. Just as he had planned to take them head on, a loud noise came from the side of the building. The zombies dashed frantically toward the sound, almost if they also saw food. Right before Sniper move, the door flown open and a female voice called, Hurry, this way!

Sniper bolts for the open door. An older lady wearing a bloody outfit is holding the thick glass door open. Sniper’s wound becomes worse within seconds, and begins to drip upon the ground. Two zombies with in fifteen feet away stop moving, they suddenly sniff the air, and turn around to see Sniper steps away from the door. They approach him using a light jog movement. Sniper’s hand makes it to the door as the first zombie reaches out for him. While spinning left, Sniper meets the blade to the zombies’ skull. He holds the zombie close as it goes lifeless. The second zombie draws closer and Sniper shoves the dead zombie towards the live one’s feet. The second trips over the first zombie, and falls on top of it several inches from Sniper. Before the zombie could lift its head, Sniper delivers a death strike to the back of the skull. It slumps over and Sniper refusing to check turns back around quickly. Soon as he gets in the door, he help the older lady pull the thick glass door close. Three zombies help it along, and the concept of pull was evidently too advanced for them. They scratched at the door as the old lady walked away and Sniper fell to the grow holding his side.

    5 Minutes Later

Steve, Steve, go get the first aid kit. He is bleeding over here, The older lady says to a security guard. He heads down the hallway to a wooden stand, which laid in the middle, and looks behind this huge desk figure. The older lady runs back to Sniper and places a hand on his shoulder. I see the blood at your side. Were you bitten anywhere? Please God, say that you weren’t please, frantically asking the older lady.

Sniper shook his head, as he exposed the screw driver still in his side. He turns, faces the ground, and says, "You’re going to have to pull
