About this ebook

The author has published many books, articles and essays that take a metaphysical approach to interpreting ancient texts such as the Vedas, the Dhampravada, the Tao Teh Ching and the Bible. He follows no theological dogma nor adopts any philosophical school.

He teaches in the Renford books and in the Institute of Applied Metaphysics that taking a single approach to exclusion of any other will not produce an accurate picture. Some text must be taken metaphysically, some as historical and some as physical events in which the witness had little or no point of reference comparable to ours. In any other approach, one will be interpreting based on a fixed religious tradition or a philosophical bias.

We have seen many varations on the idea that alien intervention has taken place in our ancient history but this author has gone into greater depth on the difference between Universal Being and the warrior gods depicted in the ancient texts.

    The Father Confusors - Renford

    Ashish

    INTRODUCTION

Drawing from the teachings of the Great Masters, those upon whose teachings the world’s religions have been founded, I have identified and explained 13 Universal Laws and numerous truths derived from them. These Laws can be found singly or limitedly in a number of books that have been written over the years but are covered in my books from a variety of perspectives. On the basis of these Laws, it is possible to profile something of the nature of God – Universal Being, as understood by such Masters as the Vedic writers, Jesus, the writers of the Kabala, Buddha, Lao Tzu, and Mohammed. It is possible to discriminate between Universal Being and those who were called gods but who were physical entities. My work includes the thinking of great theologians, philosophers, and poets whose writings indicate some understanding of these Laws.

Using the profile provided by the Great Masters, my purpose is to show that the nature of all the deities, including Yahweh, is shown in scriptural descriptions, legends, and accounts of man’s contact with the deities. We can know whether each deity is God or some other entity through an understanding of the Universal Laws. We can know whether the writer is talking about Universal Being [the creative force of the universe], about a powerful human being, or about an alien entity. Above all, this book draws a distinction between the entity that expresses the Universal Truths – the First Cause that I call Universal Being – and the one who claims to be God but whose actions can be seen to be those of a very powerful physical entity.

This book concerns the Universal Laws that the Great Masters, including Jesus, spoke of. He really spoke of nothing else! These Universal Laws are the root teachings of the Great Masters. This book is also about the perversion of these truths by those in ancient times who were thought to be gods and by the leaders who came after them and propagated their teachings. Those who followed the Great Masters were never themselves masters. Those who understood imperfectly and taught perversions of the Universal Laws were no less "Father

Confusors" than those who were thought to be God. They were the ones who knowingly or unknowingly carried out the deceptions of the original perpetrators. The original perpetrators were highly advanced technologically and sought to control by assuming the role of the Creator – the First Cause – and those who carried on their philosophy and policies wore the clerical frocks.

My purpose in writing The Core Teachings and other Renford Books has been to cut through the layers of half-truths, dogmas, and doctrines and to find the common thread that runs through all religions and various philosophical teachings. What I have looked for are the truths taught by the Masters that can be established as understood truths as opposed to those unique to a particular religion. In other words, I have looked for what was accepted as truth and taught by the Masters: the thoughts that unified, as opposed to the teachings that differentiated them. Here, I am referring to teachings attributed to the Masters themselves and not to the organization builders who came after them.

In this book, the focus is on the gods of the ancient texts with some emphasis on the Bible. One can find almost innumerable books, based upon these texts, about how man can perfect himself and return to be with God, become like God, be one with God, or actually be a god.

There are far more stories about those who played at being God.

Power over others gives many a god-like sensation. Even the smallest amount of power, or authority in the smallest degree, is often abused because of this sensation. For many, power is the ultimate earthly thrill.

From the very foundations of civilization come stories of celestial power struggles. The Sumerian epics, in allegorical style, depict raging battles between the stars and planets, each of which is called a celestial god or goddess. In reality, the Epic of Creation, the earliest written creation story, gives an allegorical but natural description of the formation of Earth from the ruins of Tiamat, the Water Planet.

With the piercing and breakup of Tiamat, Earth found her own orbit and brought the moon with it. The remaining portions of Tiamat xx

created the asteroid belt when Nibiru, the comet-like planet, left debris in its path.

There are many sagas of the wars between the gods of a physical nature and their cohabitation on Earth with developing man. The Judeo-Christian version included fallen angels, which are described as the most beautiful and glorious of God’s creations preexisting Earth.

Virtually every religious tradition includes similar stories.

    YHWH – Yahweh

Early Christian groups had a mammoth struggle for the hearts and minds of those who called themselves Christians. The Gnostics (from the Greek word gnosis, meaning knowledge), although Christians, were diametrically opposed to the orthodox (literalist) Christian thought when it came to the nature of God. They believed in the same Creator, but the Yahweh of the Old Testament was far down the power structure. Some saw him as the Creator but not the original Father. In any event, the god of the Old Testament is regarded as something far less than the Originator of all things.

Karen Armstrong, in A History of God, writes about the doctrine of Marcion, who lived from 100-165 AD:

Marcion was also appalled by the Jewish scriptures, which seemed to describe a harsh cruel God who exterminated whole populations in his passion for justice. He decided that it was this Jewish God, who was lustful for war, inconstant in his attitudes and self-contradictory who had created the world. But Jesus had revealed that another God existed, who had never been mentioned by the Jewish scriptures. This second God was placid, mild and simply good and excellent. He was entirely different from the cruel

    juridical Creator of the world.

She goes on to write how Marcion’s teachings were reflecting a general awareness of the stark differences between the God of Jesus, the Father, and the war god of the Jews.

The popularity of Marcion’s teachings showed that he had voiced a common anxiety. At one time it seemed as though he were about to found a separate Church. He had put his finger on something important in the Christian experience: generations of Christians have found it difficult to relate positively to the material world, and there are still a significant number who do not know what to make of the Hebrew God.

The Gnostics saw the preeminent Father of Light, Truth, and Greatness as number one in the universe. The God of the Old Testament, Yahweh, they saw as the Prince of Darkness but also creator of Earth.

He is seen as in a constant struggle with the Father of Light to trap the Father's light (particles of the Creator – souls) in matter on Earth.

Whether we are studying ancient religions of the East, Gnostic writings, or the Bible, we can gain much by simply accepting that there was a great deal of confusion purposely caused by one who would be god if man allowed him to be. There was also confusion fostered in the minds of ancient witnesses who were relating true events, but were doing so from within a culture that had never before experienced these events. The witnesses were obviously limited as to points of reference.

Their descriptions were limited by their experience and imaginations.

If we don’t trap ourselves into thinking that the stories are just symbolic, a dream, or a spiritual occurrence, then many logical deductions can be made.

Based upon the above-stated premise, Yahweh, the god of the Old Testament, does emerge in some cases looking more like what one would expect of the Prince of Darkness, whereas in other instances it is simply obvious that he is far from being God the Father – Universal Being. The case can be made that Yahweh, as part of the leadership of an expedition to Planet Earth from a highly developed technological xxii

civilization, was here early and may have fought insurrection in his own ranks or against other aliens for control.

With the evolution of early man, which at that stage was far from complete, Yahweh’s opportunity to add his expertise in genetics and his military superiority was a temptation hard to resist. Maybe in his world it was the ultimate challenge. It has certainly been difficult for more advanced nations on Earth to resist the opportunity for exploitation of more primitive societies.

Yahweh, who represents a number of entities (as we will see later), was here at the right time, with an excess of technical capabilities, with a mission, and with a clear picture of what could be accomplished on this planet. He was enormously successful in some ways and, in the end, has influenced the peoples of Earth to the extent that his goals have been met, even if they were not exactly what he had originally intended.

His problem was the same as that of subsequent dictators and conquerors of the homegrown variety. All have floundered, eventually, because of a lack of knowledge or understanding of the Universal Laws. Technological development is not synonymous with soul evolution. Since these Universal Laws are exact, unchangeable, and relentless in the maintenance of Earth and the universe and are, in fact, all powerful, those who would be Gods have all run their course. They have been ground down by the governing powers of the universe. The Universal Laws, derived from Universal Being, allow only those in harmony with these Laws to exercise permanent power.

Since the Universal Laws are expressions of Universal Being and are infinite, it follows that the exercise of power on Earth by anyone is finite and limited.

Yahweh’s success, in part, has been that while he could not control the Universal Laws, he did harmonize with them to some degree. He would take credit whenever possible for the benefits derived from this harmony. The Universal Laws were there for all to benefit by, and xxiii

man could manifest whatever he could conceive and believe by coming into harmony with them. Yahweh made use of these enlightened souls to usurp the position of the Creator – Universal Being – and instilled fear in their hearts whenever possible.

As you will see in the Sethian Ophites, Laldabaoth, the oldest of seven brothers, was the one who usurped control of Earth. He is one of those we will come to know as Yahweh. He is the one who is heard to say in Isaiah 44:6, I am Father and God, and above me is no other. He is the jealous god of the Jews, the warrior who gives no quarter. His mother, overhearing his claim, said, Do not speak falsely, Laldabaoth; above you are the Father of all, the first man, and the man who is Son of Man.

It was Yahweh, because of the power of his technology and his need for a work force, who desired to create his own man, superior to evolving man. It was he who, angry because men did not worship or honor him as the Creator, the First Cause, allowed the deluge to come upon Earth without warning. Among the gods were those who did not want to see their creation destroyed and hence provided for man’s escape.

The prophets of old, by being in harmony with Universal Being, were able to further enlighten mankind. Although Yahweh struggled against the psychics and fortunetellers, even outlawing them from his nation on pain of death, he used them as well as the psychics of other nations for his own purposes. Illustrations of this will be shown. Yahweh was never able to stamp them out; and, as time went on, more and more Universal Truths were revealed by the prophets and writers of what was to become the Old Testament.

Yahweh’s strategy eventually altered to one of using the spiritually advanced and possibly psychics as his own spokesmen. He altered his goals and adapted his mode of operation to include the truths that they expressed. He made himself the author of these truths and, to some degree, placed himself in harmony with these Spiritual Truths. This xxiv

caused a fundamental change in how he would control Earth, but not in his objective of control.

Where the inspired writers expounded on Universal Truths, Yahweh claimed authorship. When they prophesied of the coming of a great teacher and the revelation of truth through his teachings, he had to become the father of that teacher. Yahweh had to be more to this teacher, and the teacher had to be more than just another prophet.

Yahweh proved himself far more adaptable than the ancient gods as a whole or any earthly dictator that has aspired to godship. In the Sumerian cuneiform texts, one can identify Yahweh as being various Nefilim gods in certain instances; but no single Nefilim god is Yahweh in every instance. From time to time, he supported other nations as he did Cyrus. Isaiah at one point said that Cyrus, the king who ruled over the conquered Israel, was the Lord’s anointed. Much later, Yahweh abandoned his special race while millions died. As long as his far-reaching objective of control of Earth was maintained, he had no problem with abandonment of military control in favor of mind control. To this extent, he has been, and remains, successful at being god.

    The Chosen People

Yahweh saddled the Jews with a terrible burden and yet as a people they have weathered even genocide. Not only have they survived –

they have prospered. He made them his chosen people with their acquiescence and he remains a powerful force in their lives. It was on the mountain when Yahweh came down in his Glory (heavy thing) that the covenant was made. "I will be your God and you will be my people."

They have been in captivity more than once and almost constantly under the control of a foreign power. The land Yahweh gave them was not his to give. He simply helped them take a chunk of it. The area was populated by many tribes much like North America was populated xxv

before the coming of European settlers. He never fulfilled his promise so they did not have full possession until the time of David. Today, the State of Israel battles on with a huge Arab population still present in the mix.

Yahweh was successful at selling himself as God of the Jews and they have had to deal with the consequences of the claim that they were his chosen people. This covenant helped as long as they held his attention and was disastrous once he was no longer there to protect them. The one advantage to him being gone is they were not forced to fight and carry out genocide on those in their area. Genocide can go both ways and they have been on the giving and receiving end.

This claim to be the chosen people of God did not sit well with the peoples of earth with whom they came in contact. It earned the enmity of other nations who felt they were the favored of God. Universal Being has no favorites. Those who come into harmony with the Universal Laws (The Divine Self-expression) benefit from that harmony.

Through the centuries the Jewish people have been blamed for everything from the death of Jesus to the terrorist who have taken their battle for Palestine to the whole world. Everyone, worldwide is forced to be involved in the sibling rivalry of the Arabs and Jews. Blaming the Jews, however, is a little like blaming the rape victim. This was not an aggressive people. It took 40 years in the wilderness for Yahweh to mold them into a fighting force capable of mounting a military campaign to take the Promised Land.

Both Jews and Arabs claim Abraham as their father and they claim the same land. They have been fighting from before the births of Ishmael and Isaac. The confrontations began with Haggar and Rebecca, the mothers of Ishmael and Isaac.

Because of Yahweh the marshal society remains supreme. It makes no difference that Jesus said for us to turn the other cheek, military xxvi

retaliation is the order of the day. The fact is we believe in war as the primary means of protecting our interest, prosecuting tyrants and enforcing our desires on the world. Where did it come from? This whole line of thought came strait from the alien war god and he remains in the mind of Jews, Muslims and Christians God the creator.

Christians as a whole and especially evangelicals [fundamentalists] see themselves as heirs to the title of God’s chosen people or his elect and they support the current Jewish position if anything as enthusiastically as the average Jew. Some even want to hasten the return of the Lord by seeing the temple rebuilt in Jerusalem, where the Muslim Rock of the Dome has been for centuries.

    The Universal Laws

In order to understand the nature of God the Creator [Universal Being]

as opposed to the alien war god [Yahweh], it is necessary to understand that the Universal Laws are the foundation upon which all things are based, including natural laws. From the Universal Laws, we can know the truth, and the truth will set us free. We can be free from superstition, false gods, and basic misconceptions of the nature of our world and our place in it.

My objective is not to denigrate any religion or group but to stick to the principles or Universal Laws. They are revealed in the words of the Masters and can be found in my book, The Core Teachings. Even though the Masters taught them, we have acquired a wide variety of religions and groups within these major religions. This book is unlikely to make such an impact that any of the world’s religions will be affected. No religion or group is likely to change its dogma, creed, or method of worship because of either book. I write for the individual who has reached the point of awareness and who is looking for more than dogma. It is for those who are searching, not simply dissatisfied because of the people or practices of a group. I want this book to be of benefit to those who are looking for real answers to the enigmas of xxvii

religious literature and who are truly looking for answers for themselves.

Each major religion claims for itself the final authority for all questions in its sacred books. Each claims to have the way. Each seeks to prove its points based on these books. My purpose is to show that no sacred book has a monopoly on truth and that some have the major shortcoming of having been altered by those who lived after their Masters or originators. This book is designed for those who wish to garner the truth wherever it may be found. It is for those who want answers without dogmatism or the shaded philosophies of life that have grown up from the later organization builders who followed the Great Masters.

Through the ages, ancient writings and oral traditions have come to us.

They describe man’s contact with the gods. The gods are depicted, more often than not, as humanoid but with extraordinary powers of one kind or another. These are strong traditions, whether from ancient Sumeria, India, the Middle East, or ancient messages from civilizations of South America. Some of these traditions incorporate God into everything, animate or inanimate. In a sense, this concept can be seen as correct when we accept the fact that Universal Being sustains and maintains life and continues the creation process.

In the Sumerian cuneiform texts and in the history of the Jewish nation found in the books of the Old Testament, we have one of the largest collections of writings on the subject of man’s origins and his dealings with the gods. Interwoven with correct thinking are numerous stories that portray man’s dealings with those who would be God, aliens of immense technological capability. Even in the Hebrew tradition, which combines the god of Abraham, El Shaddai, with Yahweh and the Creator, the Supreme Being, and raises him to levels no others have been, we have numerous references to the fact that there was more than one god.

If we allowed that the One God of the Jews, Yahweh, is the same as the Creator, there were certainly with him a number of lesser beings who enjoyed close contact with humans, a relationship that went far beyond the role of messenger. This includes carnal knowledge of women on Earth. As will be seen from this study Yahweh is a powerful entity but not the creator.

The Bible has arrived at its current compilation preserved by an oral tradition. The written versions of the Hebrew tradition came to us from four sources: 1) the Yahwist, giving the written history of the warrior god; 2) the Elohist, with more emphasis on the moral order; 3) priestly sources, which are concerned with pulling it all together through genealogies; and 4) deuterocanonical, which has more to do with principles of worship. This Hebrew teaching was written a few hundred years before Christ after thousands of years as an oral tradition. It was written for the most part in Hebrew and Aramaic.

The canonized New Testament books were written primarily in Greek.

When referring to the alien warrior god, I have chosen to use the name Yahweh. In Gnostic writings, he is referred to as Laldabaoth. The most common uses are Yahweh (YHWH) and Elohim. Umberto Cassuto, a Jewish scholar and professor at the Hebrew University has written extensively on the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Bible). His detailed and comprehensive work is La Questione della Genesi. In English it The Documentary Hypothesis and the Compositon of the Pentateuch. Cassuto points to some specific differences in these names and to how they were used.

While Elohim is applied to both God in general and the God of the Jews, Cassuto says that Yahweh is the specific name for Israel’s God, the one who chose them as his people. He says:

It [the texts] selected the name YHWH when the text reflects the Israelite conception of god, which is embodied in the portrayal of YHWH and finds expression in the attributes traditionally ascribed to Him by Israel, particularly in His ethereal (physical) character.

…The YHWH is employed when God is presented to us in His personal character and in direct relationship to people or nature.

…YHWH is mentioned when the theme concerns Israel’s tradition.

Cassuto defines the use of Elohim as follows:

It [the texts] preferred the name ELOHIM when the passage implies the abstract idea of the Deity prevalent in the international circles of wise men – God conceived as the Creator of the physical universe, as the ruler of nature, as the source of life.

…The name ELOHIM was used in biblical texts when the concept of thinkers who meditate on the lofty problems connected with the existence of the world and humanity is to be conveyed.

…ELOHIM, when the subject matter appertains to the Universal Tradition.

Cassuto believed these names were both aspects of the one God. In my view these names are referring to different powers – one the universal creative force the masters called God – and the other a powerful physical alien being who created havoc with the Israelites and human beings even in the present. The Universal Force I will repeatedly call Universal Being stands on one hand and Yahweh, the war god that made himself a part of the lives of the Hebrew people as their god stands in opposition to the Universal Principles. His actions and words show the difference.

The fact is ELOHIM is used in the first chapter of Genesis because God is in the role of Creator, the Universal Force of creation, whereas

Yahweh is the name used by an alien when he intercedes in the lives of the Hebrews. This is the name of an entity who is in direct contact with Patriarchs and is party to a covenant with the children of Israel. I will be your God and you will be my people.

It is therefore acknowledged that two different names are used for the two chapters because of the differences in nature of the two roles.

With an in-depth study of the nature of Universal Being [God the Creator], it becomes clear that Universal Being does not, and cannot, engage in the activities of the god of Genesis 2 without endangering the delicate balance controlled by Universal Law. It is not so much that Universal Being cannot engage in this activity. It is more of a matter that it is not in the nature of Universal Being, which has no human-like emotions and activities. I propose in this book to prove this to be true.

    The Literal Interpretation

There have been thousands of commentaries written on the various books of the Bible. Invariably they were produced to support a doctrinal point of view. Whether from one of the Jewish sects or one of the many Christian denominations, they are approached and presented in the manner of most writings considered to be sacred. At the same time, the verses are dissected to prove the writer’s viewpoint.

While the verses are analyzed for doctrinal purposes, there are very few authors who have dealt with a written analysis of exactly what the writers have said from the literal point of view. In other words, the descriptions of biblical events tell us far more than the fundamentalists or the apologists are prepared to address.

The mystical interpretation tells a story quite different, and we will study this carefully in conjunction with the literal events. I want the reader to consider the Bible verses and my comments in the light of technological developments. Put yourself in the place of the writers and describe the events of the Old Testament. Remember their point of reference is not yours. They never saw or experienced modern technology as we have. They never saw Star Trek or ever heard of science fiction, though their honest accounts sound like it. They did not know of nuclear explosions, flame throwers, laser weapons, or even high-powered lights; yet by their accounts, they report just such things. If you could by some curvature of time meet and demonstrate current technology to them, there is little doubt that to them you would be a god.

In this work I do not wish to explain away all biblical events in terms of natural disasters or abnormalities, even though they have no doubt played their part. I treat the miracles as physical events that could have been described in no other way at the time. These were miracles in the eyes of the beholders, events without previous explanation. The writers described them the way they did because they had no experience or point of reference other than their own experience in the age in which they lived.

I will show that Yahweh, the god of the Jews, was one of a number of physical entities and that Glory was his vehicle [space craft]. His

kavod, meaning heavy or weighty thing, is the word from which

glory has been translated. I see him as all-powerful from the standpoint of those who lived at the time or even in comparison with our current technological capabilities. Yahweh’s technology far surpasses even what we ourselves are capable of at our current stage of technological development. I do not believe the events I describe to be metaphoric or exaggerations. There are also instances when it is obvious that metaphors are being used and when we are not meant to take the account literally.

In the language of the mind, a pictorial interpretation, based upon established symbols, which is the way man’s mind perceives, a different meaning can be garnered from the traditional accounts. In my view, the esoteric meaning that can be drawn from the Elohist contributions breaks down when it is applied to those scriptures dealing with Yahwist contributions. I will approach the events from the literal written description of the occurrences, assuming that in a powerful work of this nature, the writers, in the accounts of Yahweh, the warrior god, were describing literal, physical events. If the purpose of this collection is truly a history of the Jews and their dealings with their god, the purpose of the record must have been to give an authentic account, even if wrapped in a supernatural cloak.

If the purpose of the Bible is the edification of mankind only and it is not a physical, literal history, then great lessons could be learned xxxii

without worrying about the accuracy of the events. The fact is that the 66 books of the Protestant Bible contain both a metaphysical meaning and descriptions of physical events because of the interweaving of the four traditions. We also now have the contributions of high technology and psychic development with which to visualize the recorded events.

As you look at these events through your 21st century eyes, the experience will make you more than a believer. I believe it can make you a knower of the validity of these books as accurate history.

I will analyze each biblical account of contact with Yahweh, the warrior god, as a historical account or an event that physically took place and has been passed down in the Jewish tradition. We will study each story even if it is identical to other stories and traditions from non-biblical texts. This does not mean there are no great and deeper mystical meanings. I am convinced there are parts of the Bible that contain a deeper and Creator-connected message, even though Yahweh tried to stamp it out.

The Hebrew tradition has woven their warrior god into the overall pattern, and a close analysis of the scriptures, I believe, proves this without a doubt. None of these instances are contacts between the Creator – Universal Being – and man, but are appearances of Yahweh, the warrior god, and/or his emissaries to man. Our discussions will center on these moments of contact between people of Earth and this being, or beings, not of this Earth. I will analyze words and actions of both the man and his god.

    Conclusion

I am convinced that there is a Creator, the Principle of the First Cause, and that the creation continues. I am convinced that the Universal Laws are the guiding principles of Universal Being – in fact, the Divine Self-Expression. I am equally convinced that there is a difference between the god of the Jews we know as Yahweh and

God the Creator that I refer to as Universal Being. Understanding of the Universal Laws will reveal who Yahweh was. I am confident xxxiii

from the history we have, from detailed studies of ancient writings and the books of the Bible, that the real story of what happened is revealed to the reader who has eyes to see and ears to hear.

    _____________________

In Chapter One I provide an introduction to the Universal Laws because it is the basis of all knowledge. This knowledge has been hidden by a continuing line of Father Confusors.

Yet despite this universal degeneration, if we search the records enshrined in the literatures belonging to these various religions and philosophies, we shall find underneath the words and technical phrases in which they are couched, behind the expressions which once conveyed their full and luminous meaning, the same fundamental truths everywhere over the earth’s surface and in all races of men we shall find the same Message, indeed the same identic Messages, given to the men of this or of that or of another historical period for their inspiration and guidance and for mental comfort and peace, and for the consolation and inspiration of the heart in all lines of higher human endeavor that it may at any time follow. - G. de Purucker xxxiv

    CHAPTER ONE

    THE UNIVERSAL LAWS

Being in harmony with the Universal Laws is not the same as harmony with the laws of nature. While the Universal Laws are expressed in nature and reflected in natural law, nature is essentially mechanical.

Our nature in the physical world is mechanical. In order to evolve, unfold, and express Universal Being, we must break free of mechanicalness.

Traditional Christians insist that pantheism, the belief that God is in everything, is anti the God-head; and at the same time, they will tell you that God is omnipresent. If God is omnipresent, this force is present in everything. This is the life force in all living organisms, in the elements and the energy formations we call matter. This does not mean that one should worship nature as God or bow down to a rock, but we can appreciate it as the manifestation of God – Universal Being.

We must remember that the life force in nature is the expression of God in physical matter. If one worships physical matter, he is worshiping the physical expression, not God, which is expressed in it.

For the same reason, there is no benefit in worshiping man.

Nature, which is physical matter, is mechanical because it is physical matter. Therefore, nature, which is physical, is the same as our physical bodies. We know these bodies to be under the control of nature and natural laws. As noted, to experience God, Universal Being, we must break free of the physical (physical laws), which is mechanical.

Physical scientists study physical laws, nature, and matter. They do not understand nor can they explain the origin of the life force within.

They understand, to some degree, the laws of nature because they understand, to some degree, the laws of mechanics or physics. To further understand the life force within, they must understand the other three fields of knowledge, which are covered in more detail in my 1

book The Metaphysical Bible. It is important at this point to know that the First Field of Knowledge is knowledge of Self, and the Fourth Field of Knowledge is the knowledge of the physical world that we perceive with our senses. As long as scientists deny the existence of these other fields of knowledge, they have no chance of understanding the life force and/or Universal Being that underlies their field of study.

With some understanding of the Universal Laws, they will have an even better understanding of the physical, natural, and mechanical world. When physical scientists are accomplished in the understanding of the physical world [mechanical laws of nature], they have succeeded only in understanding the physical expression of the life force. There are a limited number of primary laws of nature; and the better the understanding of these laws, the faster our fields of science and technology can progress. This is a progress of the physical and for the physical. Under these primary laws there are many secondary laws of nature.

P.D. Ouspenski, in The Fourth Way, suggests that there are at least 48

laws of nature governing the Earth and many times this number controlling physical man. The constructive objective is to be in harmony with the Universal Laws and not necessarily all the natural laws. In fact, many natural laws hamper our understanding of the Universal Laws. We must try to break free from as many of these unnecessary laws created in the mind of man as possible. We can only do this by work on our Selves. The more of these laws we can break free from, the more possibility there is to understand the Universal Laws and, thus, Universal Being. The more we can understand and be in harmony with the Universal Laws, the greater our unfoldment and evolution. Ouspenski explains, The outcome of work on oneself is not creation of new laws but liberation from unnecessary laws.

For examples of these unnecessary mechanical laws, we must look to the natural restrictions under which we operate. Man must live within a certain temperature range. The oxygen we breathe must have a certain chemical consistency. We must have certain kinds of food for 2

health and for fuel – energy. These are all physical laws applicable to man. There are other laws that are associated with mechanical laws such as identification. For instance, we identify with the bodies we inhabit. We think of our bodies as ourselves. In this identification, we are controlled by negative emotions and a wide range of mechanical laws that can be removed as a force in our lives. The truth, Jesus said, would make us free. The more understanding we have of the Universal Laws, the less effect mechanical physical laws have on us, and the freer we are. If there were no invariant Universal Laws, it would mean that natural laws could not exist.

Keep in mind that the 13 Universal Laws are all part of one process that some Masters referred to as the Laws of Creation, or what I call Divine Self-Expression. Each Law is an aspect or principle of this Divine Process and can only be described as an attribute of God –

Universal Being. We can observe that the Universal Laws are in existence solely for the benefit of Being as a Whole. To be more specific, the Universal Laws exist for us and are the underlying Divine Principles or aspects of God – Universal Being. When we approach this process, it must be with the humble intent to understand who we are. It is the process of self-discovery. When we can identify and verify each of these Universal Principles in our life experiences, we are not only discovering who we are but we are living the revelation of Universal Being. In other words, if we want to know God, we have to know ourselves first.

A complete book could be written on each of the Universal Laws. In fact, this is precisely what has happened numerous times. When Maharishi Mahesh Yogi wrote The Science of Mind and the Art of Living, he wrote about as definitive a book as possible on the Universal Law of Being. For many years, scholars have written about the

perennial philosophy, that is, the common thread that runs through the teachings of the Great Masters; but few have gone into detail on all the Universal Truths as defined by the Great Masters. There is not a chapter in The Core Teachings that could not be expanded into a 3

volume of its own. All of the Universal Laws deserve the attention necessary to show their relationship to each other.

    1) The Universal Law of Being is the Divine Expression of Being as a Whole or Universal Being. Fundamental to the understanding of God is our understanding of who and what we are. The Universal Law of Being shows us that we have certain innate powers that can enable us in our quest to come into harmony with the Universal Laws. It is said a single cell in our body can be used to create another individual just like us. In other words, all the power to recreate us is in one cell.

Likewise, we are cells of Universal Being, and all the power of Universal Being is in us for creation. Creation is not over. We are the continuing creation. A single grain of sand is not the whole beach, but all those grains make up the beach. You, out of all the billions who have lived on Earth, are unique. Nowhere is there another exactly like you, yet you are a part of the whole.

    2) The Universal Law of Absolute Unity is Being as a Whole or the diversity of the Divine Expression of Universal Being. It is referred to by various religions and philosophies as The All, Oneness, Allah, and Atma. I call it Universal Being. The philosophy of duality found in most organized religions creates an adversary who is comparable to God. To them, Satan is an almost equal but evil force who wars against God. What they call evil comes from the absence of light.

Ignorance is an absence of light. Where there is the absence of light, there is fear. Fear is at the root of all our failures and all our problems.

Fear is the great Satan. Like the allegorical Beast in the Book of Revelation, it comes from the abyss, the bottomless pit. With no bottom, there is no foundation. What is a bottomless pit but something with no basis in truth? The only power fear has is the power we give it. There is only one power in the Universe, and that is God –

Universal Being. This is the Universal Law of Absolute Unity, and any form of dualistic thinking takes one over the precipice, away from love and light into fear-based thinking and living.

    3) The Universal Law of Proper Perspective addresses a step we have to take in order to see this Whole or make progress with our understanding of the Laws. It is underwritten by the Divine Knowledge, All-Knowing or Omniscience. People who think they are being wise in the ways of the world often fall back on such sayings as

Everything is relative. These are the same people who say, It is a matter of perspective. From our experience, we have to admit that everything in life appears to depend upon our attitudes and the position from which we are observing. The Universal Law of Proper Perspective refers to the fact that we attract the lessons we need. Life is made up of, and is the result of, the choices we make. When we are aware of what we are and who we are, our perspective is very different from our relative, mechanical, and physical perspective.

    4) The Universal Law of Pure Potentiality is the Divine Expression of Pure Consciousness, Infinite Thought, or what is referred to as Omnipotence. The influence and pressure of pseudoscience accepts the human brain as some sort of god, a phenomenon that can figure its way out of this trap we are in on Earth and the process of living and dying. It is a great instrument, but that is all it is – an instrument of the mind. The brain and the mind are dependent upon each other for creation, but they are not the same. Thought creates form; and without thought, there can be no form. Everything, including the trees outside, had to first exist in thought. In order to raise our conscious thought from the relative level, it is necessary to still the mind. The Buddhist says we have to reach no thought; and in the Hebrew Scriptures, we are told to be still and know. All thoughts create constructively or destructively, one as easily as the other. We must take full responsibility for what we are creating. It is our lives.

    5) The Universal Law of Believing and Knowing is the mechanism for continuing creation or the process of continuing Divine Expression.

It is knowledge of the creative process that we need to understand. In other words, what the mind of man can conceive and believe – it can achieve. It is a reflection of the Divine Expression of Knowledge, Pure Consciousness, or All-Knowing. What do the religious leaders mean 5

when they talk about the various faiths, as in various religions?

They may ask, What faith are you? as opposed to What religion do you subscribe to? Why do they emphasize the word faith? It is a retreat from defeat at the hands of the high priests of science. As long as religious leaders can say that religion is a matter of faith, proof is unnecessary. What they are referring to is blind faith in their creeds, doctrines, and dogmas. Belief can be negative, or it can be positive.

Blind faith can lead to disaster, and all the knowledge in the world without the faith to act is useless. Christian texts say wisdom comes from God. Buddhist texts say that this wisdom is without words and comes directly from our Buddha nature, the one within. The Universal Law of Believing and Knowing brings one to the realization that belief and knowledge are two sides of the same coin. In fact, true faith and self-knowledge together equal wisdom.

    6) The Universal Law of Abundance is an expression of the Divine Principle of infinity. Only our awareness of Universal Being’s infinite abundance can make manifest abundance for humankind. When we take responsibility for what we have attracted, it is easier to see the Universal Law of Abundance. We have already been given everything we could possibly need, and it has always been there for the taking.

We need only come into harmony with the Laws. Seek first the Being within, and all else will be added. This is not a world of shortages.

The only limitations we face are the ones we create and believe.

    7) The Universal Law of Attraction is a reflection of the Divine Expression of infinite magnetism, the attracting of all to All. The ultimate blame game is to lay the fault with God. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. In other words, everything is God’s fault.

Many view the world as one of random chaos, even while professing a belief in God and Divine Order. They see their lives as a series of obstacles that constantly bombard them, and they fend off disaster or succumb to the will of a harsh God. The Universal Law of Attraction, when understood, exposes the fallacy of this doctrine. It means that we attract what we require, when we require it, for our evolution and unfoldment. Here one can begin to see the connection between the 6

Law of Evolution and Unfoldment, the Law of Balance and Equalization, and the Law of Attraction.

    8) The Universal Law of Relativity reflects the Divine and infinite diversity of Universal Being or Omnipresence. All matter and all life are related through Divine Expression. There is an element in society that avoids steps toward clarity. They like to obfuscate any attempt toward any degree of certainty about anything. It is under the guise of avoiding absolutism
