Things Poppie Wants You to Know

About this ebook
I wrote this book to tell my three grandsons several life lessons and general knowledge that I want them to know. After I am gone, they will still have my thoughts.
From self -evaluation and how to treat the people around you to handling money and stress.
I want them to know why I feel having a relationshipt with God is important. They need to know about King David's early life, before he killed Goliath. How was a 150 pound 17-year-old boy able to defeat the fiercest Philistine warrior?
They need to realize that their attitude, initiative, time management and synergism will have an impact on their futures. Understand that procrastination is a slow path to failure.
And they need to think about grace.

Special Appreciation and Thanks
Friends are great. Friends who give you an honest evaluation and input where changes need to be made are even greater.
My special thanks go to:
John Parker and Don Neal, my friends dating back to the Hallmark days. When we were shooting Roman candles at one another, who would have thought we would end up working on a book? Thanks for your words of advice and friendship.
Bob Withers and Steve Hall, my friends from our Tuesday Morning Men’s Group. Thanks especially for your help on the topic of Grace. Bob thanks for your help from beginning to end.
Jim King, pastor at Salisbury Presbyterian Church. Thanks for listening and your input.
Hal Purcell (David’s godfather) and Roger Dick, longtime friends here in Midlothian. I think your verbal input brought real life to this story.
Beverly Jennings, our friend for over 40 years. Love you Bev. Your work at the women’s prison is a real inspiration.
Linda Cozad. Matthew’s mother and grandmother to David, Andrew and Bryan. What can I say? Thanks for your needed input and guidance over the years it took me to complete this project. Thanks for giving me inspiration to keep moving ahead. Thanks for listening to my ideas. Love you. It’s been a great 50 years.

Introduction
David, Andrew and Bryan
You have an artist’s canvas in front of you and the finest oil paints in the world are available.
Every day, you make one stroke on the canvas of your life - on the résumé of your life.
Every day, the canvas of your life becomes more complete.
Every stroke counts. Some strokes will not be beautiful, but they will be on your canvas.
This is the canvas you will take to the market to find a job and present to prospective employers.
This is the canvas you will present to everyone that explains who you are, what you have accomplished, your beliefs, and what you stand for.
On the days where you do unselfish acts of grace for others, your stroke will be equal to Rembrandt.
Your Eagle Scout awards are magnificent brush stokes.
This is the canvas you will use to find your lifelong mate, the love of your life.
Throughout your life, people will look at the canvas of your life, you have created. Take pride in
