I don't care if he had amnesia, he still was married! Lol. This author's heroes leave a lot to be desired. But I keep reading her. And the writing is totally sub par but I still respect the fact that she had the guts to write books. That's worth one star at least. Hero gets amnesia and for two years he forgets her until he gets engaged and his mom finally tells him about the loser wife who left him when he was sick and needed a divorce. The truth was the Mother sent her away with the seven year old son and pregnant and told her she would never be welcome. So of course he goes and fornicates with a model and gets engaged to her. Then he goes off to find his gold digger wife, yeah roght, and get divorced. Just silly. But I find her if. Short story but again the hero pissed me off.

About the author

I live in the North West of England and have been married to the same man (whom I left my native Scotland to be with) for some considerable time. We have three grown up children who between them have given us six grandchildren who are the light of our lives.

Writing was always something I enjoyed but confined it to letters, but over the years the recipients of those missives used to say I could write a book, to which my set answer was ‘I daresay I could but who would want to read it’.

Thanks to my very good friend Lisa who convinced me to have a go I found the courage to release the stories which had always been in my mind.

I hope anyone who reads my stories will enjoy them, and the characters I have created as much as I loved writing them.

Love Lost and Found

Chapter 1

Rhona Campbell held her breath thinking this could not be happening as a tall dark haired man walked through the revolving door and was now heading for the Reception Desk of the Old Mill Hotel, but there was no mistaking those features or the scar which ran across his forehead and now looked like a permanent frown line.

A reservation has been made for me I believe.  My name is Alun Harrison and I shall be staying in the Mill Suite for the next month.

Rhona swallowed hard trying to stop her insides churning as she checked the computer and found his name against the Mill Suite.  Will you please fill in the Registration Form Mr Harrison and I will arrange for a porter to take your luggage to the lift?  If you require our valet parking service please write the relevant information on the form and leave your keys with me.

It was difficult for Rhona to take her eyes from the long fingers which held the fountain pen he was using to fill in the necessary details. The long fingers brought back memories of long nights of passionate love making of the gentle stroking of her back during labour or the feel of them stroking through her hair as he held her in his arms.

The task complete he replaced the cap and opened his jacket to place the pen in his inside pocket. Would you please arrange for a sandwich to be sent up to my suite in about an hour, ham or beef will do but no chicken. I shall not need my car again tonight but I would appreciate it being available by eight tomorrow morning.  He placed the keys on the counter and Rhona passed him the card key which would give him access to the Mill suite.  He politely thanked her and set off towards the lift area where the porter waited with the cart loaded with his luggage.

As she watched the doors of the lift close she breathed a sigh of relief and grabbed the bottle of water which was sitting under the counter taking a long drink.  It had been two years since she had last seen Alun Harrison and then the scar on his forehead was a livid open wound and he was being wheeled into the Emergency Room of a large inner city hospital.

They had set out to spend a weekend with his parents in their country house, but the weather was miserable and Zak their six year old son was being difficult.  He had wanted to go swimming with his school friends but Alun had said no telling him it was time he went to see his Grandparents.  Why should I go and see them.  They don’t like me or Mummy and….

Zak you will do as you are told and I do not want to hear you say anything like that again.  His face was set and Rhona knew that he was hurt by Zak’s outburst.  It would help if you made a little effort with my parents Rhona.  I know it has been difficult but you could…

Stop telling Mummy off I hate you, you always blame Mummy and me!

Alun turned his head to look over his shoulder and remonstrate with his son – it was no more than a couple of seconds – but when he turned back there was a heavy lorry overtaking a car coming in the opposite direction and it was too late to take evasive action before the lorry caught the front wing of their car spinning it round and round until it careered into a concrete street lamp.

The silence which followed felt like the worst moment of Rhona’s life as she saw her husband’s body slumped over the steering with a deep gash in his forehead and the steering wheel covered in blood where his head had made contact, the airbag having failed to deploy.

Turning to look into the back of the car Zak sat silently staring his eyes glazed over and his mouth open wide as if he was screaming but there was no noise. From that moment everything took on a surreal feeling as the police and paramedics arrived and they were being helped into an ambulance.

When they arrived at the hospital the doctors were waiting to take Alun straight to theatre and she and Zak were shown to a cubicle before they too were checked over and allowed to go to a room close to the operating theatre to wait for the surgeons to finish operating on her husband.

After a couple of hours a doctor came to tell her that her husband would not be fit to see anyone until morning and advised that she take Zak and ring in the morning when she would be told how he was and when she could come and visit.

The following morning after ringing the hospital Rhona woke Zak and told him that they were going to the hospital.  Zak rose and quietly washed and dressed before coming down for his breakfast.  Are you feeling okay sweetheart no aches or pains? Zak shook his head and sat down at the table to eat his cereal.  Rhona glanced at him but thought he was still feeling a little shocked after the accident.

Alun had been taken from theatre to a private room away from the main ward.  The sister asked her to take a seat in the office and a doctor came to have a word with her.  "Good morning Mrs Harrison my name is Dr Braden and
