About this ebook

We’re coming up on the 25th anniversary of the surprise hit film, Thelma and Louise, which seemed to strike a cord with the American public, in particular American women. Like Thelma and Louise, many women in our society start off on the road trip of their adult lives with every intention to keep their place and follow the rules. The trouble is that too often men don’t play by the same rules—and if they cheat, women lose. As a consequence, like Thelma, who for years put up with an overbearing husband, women often suffer as second-class citizens, if not with respect to competing with men in our society, many times in their relationships where power is not distributed evenly. I Now Pronounce You… was written to give the reader a chance to recognize in the novel’s characters, issues they may be dealing with in their relationships. Once identified, the solutions to complex problems are never straightforward, but a good therapist can be invaluable as an aid to working out those solutions.

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Krazy Kaur, LCPC, P.C., has been a therapist for over 15 years and enjoys helping people. It is critical that each client feels comfortable both with her and her wellness strategies.

Therapy should not be a burden, but a rewarding and nurturing experience. What Ms. Kaur does best is help the client unload those destructive negative messages that cycle in the brain. Clients learn how to validate each feeling and emotion, how to sit with feelings and not run from them.

The way we think affects how we feel and how we behave, and that can lead to self-destructive behaviors. Ms. Kaur believes that every tear drop has a story to tell, one which deserves to be heard. If your tears had a voice, what would they be saying?

Ms. Kaur specializes in Self-Injury & Marital Counseling as well as working well in most other areas of mental health. She will challenge her clients to make progress toward health and wellness during each session!

CHAPTER 1 DOCTOR DRE, MY CHRISTIAN GREY

I’LL NEVER FORGET the first day we met. He was my first—you know, the guy you fall head over heels for the first second you see him. One leering look at his well-contoured backside and I was designing wedding invitations. George Clooney had nothing on this hottie! But that wasn’t all.

Hmmm…his walk, like Idris Elba, and the way he talked, his silky voice could melt glass, and, he had intimidating style—think that king of the corporate world, Christian Grey, who seduced naïve college senior Anastasia Steel in Fifty Shades. And that’s not all, he was intelligent, a doctor no less. Oh yeah baby!

How did we meet, I was walking down Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago and bumped into him by accident. Okay, I’m lying. I bumped into him on purpose. I couldn’t help myself!

A quick chitchat, a little shameless flirting, and we exchanged numbers and started dating.

Who am I? Well, I’m not a pathological liar, even though I lied about bumping into him. Actually, I’m a lawyer.

As a lawyer, I too had some pretty cool professional credentials, but I wasn’t practicing, because I didn’t need to. I’d inherited quite a nest egg from an uncle who adored me, so I was free to find Mr. Right and settle down.

People are always more than what they do, or the balance in their bank accounts. I’m good to others, know how to love, and I’ll go out of my way to help anyone. Friends and family think I’m an absolute angel. Can angels break one of the Ten Commandments and get away with it?

The hot doc got me in bed on our first date. Of course that means I let him. Of course that means I led him by the nose, stroking his ego, along with some other sensitive parts, until he was mine—all mine.

And another plus, he was good in the sack. Besides knowing all the right spots, I could tell he was monitoring my reaction, my building excitement. Leave it to a doctor, I suppose. Anyway, I actually came before he did! He was in control most of the
