About this ebook

The nice thing about the zombie apocalypse is how easy it is to find your friends, since you're all already looking for each other.

The strange thing about the zombie apocalypse is how many new friends you make, and how much fun you're all having together.

Throw Me to the Dogs - Karen G. Hemstreet

    Throw Me to the Dogs

    Throw Me to The Dogs

    Part One

You’re not too sure anymore how you ended up fighting here, of all places.  Tucked between a chain-link fence and a decrepit old shed is not an ideal place to be right now.  You can’t actually think of any time it has been an ideal place to be, but now is very definitely not that time.

You have, however, got a very strong suspicion that you can blame your current position solely on your subconscious having noticed that the woman fighting beside you has a dog with her.  He’s a big Irish Wolfhound, and you don’t know how effective his growling and lunging would actually be, but the zombies seem to have retained enough instincts that they back off a bit at each threat display.

Which is good, because yeah, you’re not really armed.  She’s got a thick branch to swat with and break over heads, and you’ve got a spare leash you’re using as a particularly terrible example of a whip, and your only other available option is to start throwing rocks.

Well, no, there is also the option where you get bitten and turn into a horrid flesh-eating monster but you’d, you know, kind of like to keep that one on the backburner.  Forever, preferably.

At least they’re the slow, shambling sort of zombies, you offer to the woman with the wolfhound. You have no idea what her name is.

Please don’t jinx us, she hisses, and swats a zombie across the face with her branch.  The zombie falls over and seems confused over how to go about getting upright again.

Also, it kind of looks like one of your uncles, but you’re stopping that train of thought before it can leave the station, nope, no passengers today, all rails and routes are down for maintenance and we’re sorry ma’am we don’t have an estimate for when we’ll get them up and running
