    Foreword

Honestly, this story is going to be terrible.

This entire story was a spark inside my head. I was writing something else, which I hopefully will revisit, but I got bored. So, I started another story. Then I got bored of that, too. So, I started this.

I was in a little hotel down near Mercedes-Benz stadium. We had been visiting supercross when this little seed planted inside my head. The tree became horribly crooked and weird. It was grotesque and scary.

Before I had been reading The Shining (I still am reading it. It’s like six hundred pages!). Stephen King somehow inspired me to get this made. If he hadn’t, this piece I have published would disappear. Vamoose.

His words seem to jump off the page and begin to speak. And I began the rigorous process of writing my short story, The Chime (Fun fact: my friends jokingly told me to name this The Chiming) (Another thing, if somethings in italics it is a thought)

    The FIRST Day

The clock began its tick-tocking song at the hour of 5 AM. It had before been stopped by a pencil jammed in its gears to prevent its horrific music that faintly echoed through the halls, but the pencil was snapped and splintered (It didn’t affect its powerful muffling powers, though).

It was a sight to see, that grandfather clock with its silver pendulum (It had a fine coat of rust) and maple wood lining. Its unique design would catch the eye of any person, even the ones that despised anything to do with antiques. (This clock had been crafted in the late 19th century in France. His Great Great Grandfather had brought it to America in his mid-twenties)

Alfred Lee had pride in this grandfather clock that he owned. His mind would screech WAKE UP! at 4:55 (Or at least around 4:55) to tell him to get out of bed and turn the clock operational. It may have been annoying to constantly do this, but it was like an unwritten rule; break it and it would be a crime.

    Alfred
