Speed Learning - Ross T Arnold

    LEARNING

    CHAPTER 1

HOW TO AWAKEN THE POTENTIAL FOR UNLIMITED LEARNING?

Humans have a natural and boundless inclination towards curiosity.  They arrive in this world with all the required resources and tools needed to explore and satisfy their curious urges. The ability to explore what sparks our attention is our right.  To be able to enjoy even this current moment is a gift. Pay attention to how a child reacts when given a new toy? The child will first shake it, and then turn it up or down. He or she will then study how the right reflects on it. They may attempt to taste it and or pull it apart, one piece at a time. Why do children do this? Actually, the child is learning or exploring the toy.  Children use all their six senses to learn as much as they can about the toy. This is a natural process which remains which remains with the child until the age of 6 or 7.

These processes occur with everyone, however at some point this ability disappears. How do adults know that this occurred? A closer examination of a child’s learning milestones may reveal the answer. By the age of 1, a child learns to walk. This is a complex task because it requires smooth coordination and timing. Nevertheless, children manage this on their own. By repeatedly falling and then getting up, a child eventually learns to walk on his or her own.

During this learning process, children are not concerned with failure. Failures and faults are not in a child’s repertoire. By repeatedly falling and standing up, a child masters walking. However, falling and failure become a part of adulthood. In adulthood, people begin to dislike failure. Why is this so? The reason is in childhood failure is not something that children are concerned with. They do not understand the concept of failing nor do they believe in failing. Each time a child failed at walking, parents and caregivers never labeled it as a ‘failure in walking’, because they know that the child will ultimately learn to walk.

By the age of 2, children are able to use language in communication. This ability develops without guidance. By the age of 5, children will acquire most of the words that they will use in daily life. By the age of 6, a child will learn how to read. This can be a difficult process. Learning to read in a different language is a difficult process but such extraordinary feats were possible in childhood because of the mind’s unlimited potential.

    Age 1: Begins to walk

    Age 2: Communicates using words

Age 3: Learns most words that will be used in adulthood

    Age 6: Learns to read

    AN AMAZING TOOL

The brain is composed of millions of cells called neurons. Together, there are 100 billion of these neurons in the brain. Each single neuron is connected via nerve fibers to hundreds more neurons. These are called networks. Neurons are similar to computers. They have the ability to access information, send and process data at formidable speeds. A neuron may send a message to thousands of other neurons at a speed of 1/20 sec. This is faster than the time required to blink an eye. Current research indicates that the number of neuronal connections far exceeds the number of atoms present in the universe. The brain is an amazing organ that lies in a space between two ears. It has an unlimited capacity for processing and storing information. A computer that is able to calculate 400 million problems each second will require one
