About this ebook

Plane composition is one of the basic courses compulsory for the artistic designing major of institutions of higher learning. Following the principle of attaching importance both to theory and practice, this book makes a profound research and theoretic refining in particular to the two aspects: "the creation of points, lines and planes", and "irregular composition". The book consists of five chapters as follows: the history and development of Plane Composition; respective characteristics of the three basic form elements of plane composition and their changeable creation methods, irregular composition and regular composition, and the connection between plane composition and design and so on. There are three features for this book:
First, the creation of basic elements; namely, a great many step-by-step and scientific creation methods by which a form can transition into another one. The aim is that researches on basic element theory may show the simply essence and regularity of basic elements in a way of practice and by the most direct and concise method, in the hope of solving problems fundamentally.
Next, as irregular composition was simply listed through some pictures made of points, lines, and planes rather than listed systematically, scientifically, and gradually in detail in former books regarding plane composition, the publishing of this book may entirely enrich the content of plane composition, enabling readers to understand the rules of plane composition more rationally and comprehensively, not only to actively create basic elements at will but also to freely make regular and irregular composition, and then to sort out and sum up the knowledge of plane composition from the more scientific and rational angles.
Then, this book is illustrated with pictures, so that it is easy for readers to apprehend at a glance. The creation and the irregular composition of basic elements are unique for this book. And this is also the place where the "new" theory is shown in this book.
In a word, this book makes a profound discussion of basic element creation, expecting to grasp something more essential. In the composition forms, it expands and adds irregular composition which has never been involved in books of this kind, expecting to grasp the two aspects: "depth" and "width". Certainly, I have expected effects in several practices.
In the 6-year college teaching, I have poured more energy into the teaching of plane composition, here for the following two purposes to make this book: firstly, hoping to enhance my experiences and understanding in teaching practice to a rational height; secondly, my tutor provides me help in publishing this book.Certainly, there is still insufficiency in this book, so I earnestly welcome criticism and correction from experts and colleagues.
